Element 1- Site Inspection

Hazard management and identification

  • Ask the employee which hazards (if any) they are most concerned about in their workplace? And what controls there are currently in place?

  • Walk around the site with the hazard register. Does the hazard register encompass all the hazards you can see? Are the controls appropriate?

  • Add any hazards here which have not been included in the hazard register or any changes which need to be made:

  • What health risks are the employee exposed to? (discuss) Especially potential long term issues

  • Are access tracks safe? If applicable

PPE

  • Is the employee or contractor wearing the appropriate PPE?<br>

Evidence

  • Can the employee demonstrate where to find the Health and Safety manual, H&S policies, hazard register, training records?

  • Is all hard copy paperwork and emergency information up to date? E.g forms bring used from 10 years ago which have the old logo and are obviously old etc

  • Can the employee demonstrate that they have correctly completed a pre job hazard assessment for the last week?

  • Ask the employee about the tasks they are completing today and ask then to tell you about the hazards and show you where they have identified the hazards (ie paper, on a board) etc

  • Are there any work procedures which need to be written up or made simpler?

Does the site have the following items:

  • Harnesses/strops/HV testing gear are all in date

  • All electrical cords have been tagged and tested

  • There is a hazardous substance register and associated MSDSs.

  • Fire extinguishers are in date

  • First aid kits and emergency signage ( including emergency flip chart) are in place

  • Sign-in book with health and safety requirements

Element 2: Contractor audit

Contractor selection

  • Can the employee demonstrate where to find contractor management processes?

  • Has the employee considered which grade the contractor falls into?

  • Has the contractor been officially approved as per Pioneer's promapp processes? Evidence required

Starting work

  • Has the contractor signed a contract or H&S agreement?

  • Has the contractor been inducted and taken through appropriate paperwork (permits etc)

  • Has the contractor been taken through the hazard management plan (if applicable) before starting work?

Performance Management

  • Has the employee spot checked the contractor as per timeframes on promapp?

  • Was the performance of the contractor reviewed? (If appropriate)
