Part 1 : Get Safe for Work

The POWRA must be completed daily before any workers commence they start work.

  • Do you have the right documentation for the job? Risk Assessments, Permits and Method Statements, do they include the task you are going to do.

  • What is the RAMS title and reference

  • Have all workers carrying out the task understood and signed the Risk Assessments and Method Statements. Work must not commence until risk ass4essments and method statement for the task completed , briefed and signed on to.

  • Is there Safe Access and egress to/from the work place?<br>Do not allow any workers to enter work place / area unless safe to do so and safe to exit

  • Do all workers have all the correct tools and equipment required to carry the work out safely? Do not start work until obtained.

  • Has the work equipment, or methodology changed and how? Is this documented within the RAMS? If this has not been documented 'At risk', Before work can commence the RAMS are require to be reviewed and revised with additional equipment/ changes to methodology.

  • Will workers be using / exposed to any hazardous substances carrying out this task?

  • Are COSHH Assessments available for the hazardous substances, have they been briefed and signed on to by all workers exposed to the hazardous substances? If response is no, not permitted to use the products / exposed without a COSHH Assessment, must be briefed, understood and signed by person exposed

  • Does the task involve working at height?

  • Are the workers trained to work at height and have completed training for the relevant equipment e.g. IPAF 3a, Scissor lift. 3b for Boom, PASMA for Mobile Access Towers. <br> If response is no not permitted to WAH or use equipment not trained for

  • Fixed Scaffold, Mobile Access Tower have they been inspected and tagged in last 7 days If response is no, unsafe and must not be used until inspected and tagged

  • Is the task to be carried out in an area where there are potential live services?

  • Have the services been identified and deemed safe to work?

  • Have the services been isolated, tagged and locked off, of if buried services, identified and hand digging only permitted? If no do not commence work

  • Is there adequate signage and barriers to segregate work area, protect falls in excavations

  • Do all workers, carrying out this task, have the right PPE as specified in your RAMS and COSHH Assessments?<br>If not, do not start work until you have the correct PPE.

This Point of work Risk Assessment has been briefed to me, I fully understand it's content and will cease work if the task extends beyond the scope of the risk assessments, method statements, COSHH assessments and this POWRA and not re-start work until I know that the tasks I carry out have been risk assessed. If there is anything I do not understand, or do not have the required equipment or PPE I will stop work and report immediately to my supervisor.
