External Inspections

  • Is everyone outside and assembled at the Evacuation Checkpoint

  • Check the Evacuation board is cleared. All clear??

  • Are there any injuries? Apply First Aid, take action immediately

  • Is there any evidence of any major hazards?? gas leaks, water leaks,

  • Is there any evidence of substantial ground/fracture/liquifaction. Isolate and make safe with danger tape or cones

  • Walk the exterior of the building and assess for visible cracks, broken materials, loose sheeting / signage, etc.

  • Is there anything at high level that could pose a threat to staff or customers/general public?

  • Is there evidence of broken glass? Isolate and make safe

  • Is there evidence of structure damage not evident prior to the latest event? If so, do not enter and escalate for structural review

  • Notify Group Manager of status and propose re entry for internal inspection

Preliminary Internal Inspection

  • Assess the overall situation (ensure 2 people present)

  • Does the store have power?

  • Has the generator started? Is it safe and secure?

  • Evidence of collapsed elements?? (Signage, ceiling, lighting, etc.) can these be made safe

  • Extent of damaged stock - clean up requirements?

  • Evidence of refrigeration leaks - any alarms? Is refrigeration working?

  • Internal inspection of walls and wall finishes. Any broken wall tiles?

  • Any leaking water pipes?

  • Any sewage/plumbing issues?

  • Check electrical plant rooms for any hazards

  • Check stockroom racking

  • Walk through all areas and note any hazards to any staff re entry

  • Is there evidence of structural damage not evident prior to the latest event. If so, do not allow staff to enter and escalate for structural review

  • Notify Group Manager and propose staff re entry

Store Recovery

  • Assess how many staff required for proposed cleaning and even try. Call for volunteers should staff be finishing. Appoint team leaders for roles within reinstatement process

  • Advise staff of any internal hazards

  • Isolate any hazards (danger tape, cones, etc)

  • Departmental staff to undertake detailed inspections of respective areas and vompile lists of damaged items for store manager

  • Implement recovery/reinstate processes (clean and tidy as required) prior to reopening

  • Notify Group Manager of proposed reopening for trade

  • Store reopening
