  • Check all welds and bolts for breaks or stress

  • Hydraulic Cylinders

  • Is there any leakage of cylinders. Damage to the lift?

  • Check for broken welds, stress or cracks

  • Lift chains and rollers

  • Is there any damage, kinks or rust. Does it need lubrication

  • Is there squeaking?

  • Forks

  • Are there cracks bends or warps? Is there oil on them?

  • Check controls

  • Do forks raise easily without shuddering or sticking?

  • Does mast tilt work?

  • Is there leakage when operating?

  • Tires

  • Visually inspect tires for wear. Are there cuts? Is there any large amount of rubber missing? Is there any slipping?

  • Battery

  • Are the terminal covers in place?

  • Check cable insulation

  • Check hydraulic fluid levels

  • Check that gauges are in good working order

  • Steering

  • Is steering loose?

  • Brakes

  • Make sure brake pedal withstands constant pressure without depressing to the floor

  • Does the parking brake work?

  • Lights: make sure all lights work and are clearly visable

  • If the truck is equipped with a safety seat, is it functional?

  • Check engine oil levels

  • Check engine coolant level

  • Check transmission fluid level

  • Ensure seat belt works and can be adjusted to fit driver correctly
