Raw Material Sourcing

Sanitary Storage and Transportation

Employee Practices

  • Are unsecured tools or materials left in open product areas?

  • Are repairs done in a safe manner?

Equipment Operations

  • Are there temporary repairs present with a plan in place to have a permanent correction done?

  • Is there excessive product on the floor? Is this a result of some equipment failure or design error?

  • Are fail safe devices functioning correctly? (X-rays, toppers, metal detectors, steam traps, etc.)

Environmental Concerns

  • Are Safety Data Sheets on file and current for all items? (Annually)

  • Is the water supply obtained from a safe source and tested? (Annually)

  • Is there certification on file for any back flow preventers? (Annually)

Roof Leaks

  • Are roofs in good repair?

  • Are there any visible leaks or evidence of leaks?

Rain Puddles

  • Are parking lots, roofs, and outside areas free of standing water?

Weeds

  • Are the parking lots and two feet around the outside of the facility free of weeds and/or grass?

Animals

  • Is there any evidence of pests in the processing plant?
