General Information

Door Supervisor Contingency Plan

  • In the event that any part of the instruction cannot be carried out the Door Supervisor will contact the Operations/Project Manager

Venue Induction Training Awareness

  • Door Supervisors will make themselves familiar with all details of the assignment document prior to commencing duty

Venue Inspection

  • Door Supervisors will ensure a thorough examination is carried out on the clients premed is to establish the security of the venue on initial entry to the premises and will ensure that all security measures are put into practice during their duty

General Conduct

  • Door Supervisors must be correctly dressed while on duty with clean uniform and polished shoes.
    Correct PPE or clothing must be worn according to venue rules or conditions.
    ID badges must be worn at all times.

    Professional Security personnel assigned to this venue shall be in uniform and possess a communications device.

    All occurrences/incidents shall be entered in full in the Incident Report form (book retained at each venue) by Professional Security Door Supervisor(s). Major incidents including emergency services or escalated by the client or Head of Door Supervision will be investigated by the Operation/Project Manager or in his absence the Managing Director.

    The Head of the Door Supervision team, will check the incident report form daily to acknowledge any entries made.

    Clients are encouraged to add any comment to the incident report form as and when appropriate to ensure accurate and timely feedback to Professional Security.

    All emergencies will, as soon as possible, be reported to the relevant emergency services by the Professional Security door team.

    The client shall be made aware as soon as practicable (or as agreed) of any emergency that is reported.

    The Professional Security Door Supervisor(s) shall be punctual at all times

    On arrival on duty the Professional Security Head of Door Supervision team shall make themselves known to the person in charge of the venue.

    A member of the Door Supervision team will periodically walk the perimeter of the venue to check that any fencing is in order, any defects shall be brought to the attention in charge and an entry shall be made in the incident report form showing time, date and details.

    The Professional Security Door Supervision Team shall remain alert and vigilant at all times.

    The Professional Security Door Supervision Team shall not leave the venue without due authority from person in Charge of the venue or the Professional Security Head of the Door Supervision team.

    The Professional Security Door Supervision Team shall not handle or tamper in any way any property not belonging to Professional Security.

    Professional Security Limited Door Supervision team, although protecting the venue of the client shall at all times be conscious of their own safety. They shall not be expected to endanger themselves or others. The Police and other emergency services shall be called were it is felt that the Professional Security Limited Door Supervision team is exposed to risk.

    Whenever Professional Security Limited Door Supervision team are at a venue the Professional Security Operation/Project Manager shall be their escalation point of contact.

    The Professional Security Operation/Project Manager shall be contacted via his mobile telephone to provide support where and when required.

    Incidents that cannot be safely and effectively handled by the Professional Security Limited Door Supervision team or the Operations/Project Manager shall be immediately reported to the Police or other relevant Emergency Service.

Reporting of Incidents

  • The Door Supervision team must complete an Incident Report Form (Book on site) which details all aspects of Incidents/Events on the clients premises.

Door Supervisors Code of Conduct

  • Professional Security's Door Supervisors are employed in accordance with the following code of practice:-

    ** Must have the Security Industry Authority badge.
    ** Be aware of the provisions of the licensing act and their application to the role of Door Supervisor.
    ** Have the basic awareness of Health and Safety practices.

    * Sign in and out of the venue indicating start and finish times
    * Do not drink alcohol, smoke or take any drugs whilst on duty or be under the influence of alcohol or drugs when signing in for duty
    * If you suspect a colleague of either being in possession of, dealing in or using drugs, you must immediately inform you Operations/Project Manager
    * All incidents of drug use, drug possession, drug selling must be reported to the venue manager and also entered into the incident book
    * Do not use mobile phone on duty (unless in an emergency)
    * Do not at any time unlawfully carry weapons
    * No eating or chewing gum whilst on duty
    * Wear only approved uniform whilst on duty
    * Portray a clean cut image whilst on duty
    * Do not stand directly in doorway of premises (no Intimidation of customers)
    * Use moderate language at all times when dealing with members of the public and other staff
    * Act fairly and not unlawfully discriminate against any person on the ground of colour, race, religion, sex or disability
    * Do not fraternise with customers, friends or relatives whilst on duty
    * Greet visitors to the venue in a friendly and courteous manor
    * Maintain good order on the premises and ensure safety of the public
    * Prevent persons entering the venue after a time stipulated by the venue manager
    * Never Solicit or accept any bribe or other consideration from any person, nor fail to account for any money or property received during the course of duty
    * Ensure that consent is obtained from each customer prior to any search taking place, if the venue manager requires personal searches as a condition of entry
    * do not search individuals of the opposite sex and ensure that any item seized are dealt with strictly in accordance with venue policy
    * Do not retain items seized under any circumstances i.e. All drugs to be placed in drugs safe
    * Protect the premises and property against damage or theft
    * Use tact and diplomacy as the first tool to control conflict
    * Use only reasonable force to diffuse violent conflict
    * Never deal with a member of the public on a one-to-one basis
    * Be courteous to customers as the leave the venue

Door Supervisors Must Also

  • * Ensure that all communication works and understand how to use it
    * Report incidents in a daily logbook for the information of the security team, the management and interested outside agencies
    * Use hand-held counters/Clickers to monitor venue capacity
    * Assist the emergency services in whatever the request in the execution of their duties
    * Be aware of emergency procedures, what action to take and how to inform the emergency services and or licensing committees

    Failure to comply with this code may result in dismissal or disciplinary action
