General Plant Exterior

  • Brewery access roads, sidewalks and parking lots are properly paved, free of excessive potholes, afree of debris and dust which can mitigate to production areas

  • Plant grounds are fenced and secured to prevent unauthorized access. Exterior fence is fully functional and capable of maintaining site security (free of gaps, holes, other damage that would allow unauthorized persons to enter company property)

  • Exterior plant grounds (within the plant fence) are free of excessive vegetation, pallets, trash, debris, obsolete material/equipment or other potential insect or rodent harborage. Evidence of bird, rodent or insect infestation, such as feathers, hair, urine, droppings, etc. is not excessive

  • Building roof is in good repair and with adequate drainage to minimize water accumulation that might attract pests and/or the risk of dropin contamination (annual inspection by Plant Technical Services is acceptable. Otherwise, inspection must be performed by authorized personnel only and in strict adherence to Plant Safety rules)

  • Drainage must be designed and maintained to minimize risk of product contamination and not compromise product safety. Adequate drainage must be in place to prevent free standing water on exterior grounds, including paved areas, that could attract birds, rodents and other pests

  • Disposal and /or discharge of sewage, solid and liquid waste and rain water is compliant with all legal requirements

  • Walls must be constructed, finished and maintained to prevent the accumulation of dirt, minimize condensation and mold growth, and facilitate cleaning. Exterior walls must be properly sealed and painted; free of pests, excessive mold, excessive cracks and holes, flaking plaint or exposed rust, mortar, etc

  • Doors must be maintained in good condition. External doors and dock levelers must be close fitting or adequately proofed. External doors to open product areas must not be left open when not in immediate use except for emergencies. Where external doors to enclosed product areas are opened, suitable precautions must be taken to prevent pest ingress. Exterior doors and/or air curtains provide an adequate barrier against rodent, bird and insect entry (functional, sealed, in good repair)

  • Windows (if designed to be opened) or wall openings are screened with no rips, tears, or holes to prevent pest entry (insects, spiders, birds, rodents, etc.). Window panes are whole, no cracks or broken panes, functional and seal properly. Where they pose a risk to product, glass windows must be protected against breakage

  • Exterior lighting is functional and adequate to provide a safe working environment

  • Labeled (health warning label present) rodent bait stations are secured to the ground (or weighted) at least every 30 meters around the plant buildings. The plant pest control program must contain an uptodate map of the bait stations

  • Building perimeter walls are free of any vegetation growth for a minimum of 0.6 meters (2 ft.) and gravel, concrete, stone or other suitable material is used to reduce chances of rodent activity. This includes branches and foliage from tree and shrubs

  • Production equipment (vessels, valves, pumps, pipes, etc., located outside) are clean and free of structural or functional defects

  • Exterior water wells are secured to prevent unauthorized access and buildings are in good repair. Water wells have a "protected perimeter" to prevent possible contamination from external sources, such as inappropriate chemical storage and/or chemical spill or pest management poisons

  • Exterior doors/gates that open to unrestricted areas or outside the plant property must be locked to maintain site security

  • Production tools (fittings, ladders, hand tools, cleaning tools, chemicals, etc.) are properly stored and free from defects

  • Green areas are well maintained (grass lawns properly irrigated and cut, trees well maintained, no waste)

  • Drains covers and drip collectors are clearly marked (colorcoded), clean, no dirt collected

  • Shipping dock areas are kept free of spills, trash, litter, etc. Doors are clean and in good condition. Underside of the dock plates are free of debris

  • External waste containers are properly labeled, covered (applies to waste that attracts pests) and secured (on company property) to prevent unauthorized or unintended disposal and pests entry
