  • Is all external marketing materials in date and in a good and presentable condition? ie Banners, Flags A Frames etc

  • Is the building, external walls, fences etc all in good repair? Painted surfaces in good condition? No graffiti?

  • Is the canopy and pole sign in good repair, clean and presentable?

  • Is available parking well maintained and managed? ie only customers using bays, no long term parking taking place

External Impressions

  • External entrance area clear and clutter free? No rubbish/leaf build up collecting around Bins, Bunkers and kerb edges?

  • Domestic Fuel displays full and with correct items (ie summer stock packed away), correct POS on display (A1 Price board positioned with stacks and displays)

  • Are levels of Ad Blu and Screen wash sufficient (ie not less then 1/2 a pallet for 24 hr sites)

  • Windows clear from all unauthorised posters and POS and not blocking customers view entering store? No handwritten signs

  • Authorised posters on display positoned to the side of site entrance (ie hygiene ratings, Store opening hours, Branded Food opening hours)

  • A Boards displaying live promotions

  • Refuse areas if on display to customers view clean, tidy and well presented?

  • Are all flower buckets full and inviting with only good quality product on display? (if ordering from Bookers has the site got full POS on display)

Internal Impressions

  • Internal entrance area clear and clutter free (ie open and inviting with no trip hazzards present)

  • Entrance mats and floor clean?

  • Is the WiFi in working order?

  • If the site has a music licence is this on and working?

Planograms - Are the planograms for the below sections correct and in line with best practice merchandising guide?

  • Is the promotional end set up correctly to plan and has all correct Promotional Header Cards, Stripping and Barkers all place

  • Evidence that the promotional pack has been implemented around the site and that all POS is displayed in correct holders?

  • Is the long term deals POS suite being used to full effect in the following areas. Impulse Crisps, Minerals, Off Licence

  • Promotional Dumpbins used to good effect and current impulse promo line is available? All POS in correct A4 holders advertising offers to customers?

  • Display stands around the site have correct instore printable POS to advertise price and offers to customers? (ie Tooty Fruity 2 for £5 deals, Bonds Confectionery yellow price triangles for header cards etc)

  • FSDU's well maintained around the site including DSL? (ie only current on display, SELS & Barkers to advertise price where needed)

  • Vapouriz stands all have long term POS stripping and offers on display on Floor stands, Gantries and CTU's?

  • Ice-cream freezers well merchadised and not iced up?

  • Pick a category and do a random check on SEL compliance? All present and in line with back to basics guidelines?

  • Are stacks around the site at a suitable height? (between waist and shoulder) with POS on display

  • Have you observed colleagues engaging in our incentives to the customer?

  • Clip strips used to good effect to promote impulse lines to customers? Fail = not more than 1 strip per bay or not priced up

Cleanliness

  • Visible tops of chillers free from dust? Chiller fronts and grills clean and free from dust and spillages?

  • Shop Shelving clean and free from dust and spillages?

  • Data strip around the site in good repair and free from sellotape, Sticky residue etc? Are in the infills black around the site or using themed versions in the correct locations? (ie protein, Jacks etc)

Food & Coffee

  • Store Meal deal section well merchandised, full and supported fully with correct suite of POS provided? (POS Includes Header Card, Pink Stripping and Meal Deal Barkers)

  • Costa Coffee machine clean, in working order, well stocked and nothing stuck to them?

Hot Food

  • Is the counter full and well stocked? Has the site got the correct lines on display (ie Breakfast lines been removed and lunch lines after 11am)

  • Equipment in good working order? (ie all lights working? all shelves heating up? - if not but site has logged a ticket mark as YES and make a note)

  • Has site got magnetic Header Card and Base panel in place? Along with correct data stripping and SEL's?

Branded Food

  • Is the food offer opening at agreed opening hours?

  • Are counters full and inviting with a good range of products available for customers? (ensure pictures of availability are taken)

  • Have you observed a good level of customer engagement from the colleagues?

  • Have you observed good use of upselling linked deals and offers to customers?

Facilities

  • Are toilets open to customers? If not but logged a ticket mark as YES and make a note

  • Are the toilets well maintained, clean and presentable?

  • Is toilet checklist being utalised and up to date?

  • Is the customer seating area clean, tidy and in good order (ie tables clean, seating in good order and floors tidy)
