Top of access procedure

  • 1) Call lift to floor level and place two calls in COP
    2) Open lift landing doors, check if lift has stopped at the correct height
    3) Adopt a balanced position
    4) Safely engage the stop button, close the landing door
    5) Wait 10 Seconds
    6) If lift has not moved, engage the TOCI inspection switch then release the Stop button into the run position
    7) Close landing dors and wait 10 seconds
    8) If lift has not moved engage Stop switch and locate TOCI light. If accessible turn this on.
    9) Scan area for hazards oil, debris etc.

Top of car egress procedure

  • 1) Return the car to the original point of access
    2) Set cat top emergency stop switch to 'stop position'
    3) Open and mechanically block the hoist way door in the open position
    4) Disconnect lanyard if connected
    5) Exit the car top
    6) Place the Top of Car Inspection switch to 'Normal' run position
    7) Place the car top Emergency Stop Switch to the normal run position
    8) Close the landing door and verify the normal operation.

Pit Access

  • 1) Place barrier around entrance
    2) Place two calls in the COP usually highest, not the next floor
    3) Peep in doors to check where the stop button is located
    4) If safe to do so activate the Stop button
    5) close landing doors and place a call and wait 10 seconds
    6) If lift has not moved it is now safe to look for shaft light switch and switch on
    7) Hazard scan for any potential problems with your route into the pit
    8) Always close the landing doors to a minimum safe distance
