Additional Hazards Identified

  • Helicopter: Conduct appropriate pre-flight and turn around checks as per WHL OMM and manufacturers flight manual, Adhere to all limitations. Conduct fuel drains when using foreign supplies

  • Firearms: Keep firearms pointed in a safe direction at all times, Never discharge if threat of damaging helicopter or causing danger to crew, public or property on the ground. Always check it is unloaded before bringing barrel back into the cabin.

  • Ammunition: Store appropriately, Watch for cases ejecting into flight controls or Main and Tail rotor. Notify base of DG onboard the Helicopter

  • Doors off operations: Ensure all loose items are stowed and passengers are appropriately harnessed or seat belted in. Adhere to FM limitations for doors off configuration.

  • Wires: Keep a good look out when in the wire environment, If unsure fly a recognisance over the area before descending

  • Stock/Animals/Farms: Fly at appropriate heights when applicable and monitor stock

  • Weather: Pick the right day and monitor the weather if it changes. Have alternative fuel stops if weather necessitates

  • Other Dangerous goods: Store fuel in appropriate containers and make sure they are sealed to stop any leaking. 60L maximum with passengers.

  • New crew environment: Some team in the crew may have worked together, Team members must be suitably experienced at conducting this task. All team members must communicate well and monitor each others performance. If any crew member is not happy then the task must be abandoned.
