Site Documentation

  • Is there means of signing in / out to site and are all our operatives currently signed in?

  • Is there an up to date and relevant risk assessment, method statement and recue plan available for the site in question? (RAMS)

  • Have all operatives been briefed on the site specific RAMS and acknowledged the risk assessment and method statement by means of a signature?

  • Are all Scaffolding handovers completed and are all records available on site?

  • Is there records of up to date and relevant dismantle plans that have been completed?

  • Is there an up to date scaffold register in place and are scaffold tags clearly visible, signed and dated?

  • Are employees trained and competent for the task in hand? Are training records available?

Designs for Tube & Fitting / System Scaffold - Manufacturers Instructions

  • If system scaffolding is being used are the manufacturers instructions or TG30:24 Compliance sheet available on site and are they relevant to the type of system being used?

  • If system scaffolding is being used has it been erected in accordance with the manufacturers instructions or TG30:24 compliance sheet?

  • Are all Tube & Fitting scaffolds erected in accordance with the supplied TG20:21 compliance Sheets?

  • Are all designed scaffolds erected in accordance with the approved design drawings?

  • If the scaffold team are using a bespoke design to erect scaffolds on site what is the current revision they are working to?

  • Is the Bespoke design revision that the scaffold team are working to correct at the time of audit?

  • Have all Construction issue working designs and TG20:21/ TG30:24 compliance sheets been issued to the client for all scaffolds that have been erected on site and are they available?

Barriers & Signage

  • Have physical barriers been installed around the working area?

  • Has signage been used to warn other site users or members of the public of the work activities currently being undertaken?

Construction and Workmanship of all Site Scaffolds

  • Are foundations adequate and suitable for all scaffolds observed?

  • Are all standards adequately installed? (consider level, joints, connections and spacings etc).

  • Are ledgers adequately installed? (consider level, joints, connections and spacings etc).

  • Are transoms adequately installed? (consider spacing, extension and connections etc).

  • Are all couplers used correctly and used appropriately?

  • Has all bracing been installed correctly and in-line with the approved working design / TG20:21/ TG30:24 compliance sheet & manufacturers instructions provided?

  • Are all working platforms correctly boarded, boards of good quality and platforms of adequate size for the activities being undertaken?

  • Are all guardrails adequately installed to all working platforms and set at the correct height of 950mm?

  • Are all toe boards adequately installed to all working platforms, correctly supported and in good overall condition?

  • Is the access and egress to the scaffold safe, appropriate and without undue risk to the scaffold users?

  • If ladders have been installed are they in good overall condition?

  • For all ladders that have been installed, have they been attached to the structure using Lashing or ladder clamps?

  • Are all loading bays erected in accordance with the approved working design / TG20:21/ TG30:24 compliance sheets or manufacturers instructions?

  • Is the scaffold suitably tied or stabilised in-line with TG4:19, design / TG20:21 / TG30:24 compliance sheet or manufacturers instructions?

  • Has Preliminary testing been undertaken in accordance with TG4:19 and certificates been completed?

  • Has proof testing been undertaken in accordance with TG4:19 and have certificates been completed?

  • Have brick guards been installed to all working platforms & installed correctly?

  • Has debris netting / sheeting been installed and is this in-line with the design / TG20:21 / TG30:24 compliance sheet and manufacturers instructions?

  • If permitted by the design, client or principal contractor, have Craven Scaffolding signs or banners been installed onto the scaffold to promote the company?

  • Are good standards of housekeeping being implemented on site and are all levels of the scaffold free from obstructions?

Scaffolding Team Observations

  • Do all scaffolders that have been observed have tethers attached to their Impact wrench?

  • Were any scaffolders / operatives observed working at height at the time of site visit?

  • Have all scaffolders / operatives been observed to be working safely and in accordance with their site specific RAMS and in-line with site regulations?

  • Were scaffolders observed using their scaffold steps?

  • Were all site scaffolders / operatives wearing the correct PPE / RPE in accordance with their site specific RAMS and also in accordance with the site standards?

  • Were all scaffolders / operatives observed to be using their chinstraps whilst wearing the 4-point hard hats that have been issued to all Craven employees?

  • Were Scaffolders observed to be using ear plugs whilst operating impact wrenches as highlighted within their RAMS?

Site Welfare - Workplace (Health, Safety & Welfare) Regulations 1992

  • Is there sufficient toilets & washing facilities for the amount of operatives on-site?

  • Do all site facilities have the use of hot, cold or warm running water?

  • Do all site facilities have adequate lighting & ventilation?

  • Is the site eating facilities adequate in size and fit for its intended purpose?

  • Are all welfare facilities in a clean and sanitary condition and safe for all site personnel to use?

  • Is drinking water readily available to all operatives on site through a direct mains supply or by any other means?

  • Is there sufficient drying facilities on site and are they of adequate size & fit for its intended purpose for all site personnel that are operational on site?
