Project Description

General Project Safety

  • Are emergency numbers posted in a conspicuous place including the plant emergency number, if applicable

  • Are first aid supplies readily available including eye wash kits?

  • Is at least one member of the crew current in First Aid and CPR certification?

  • Are all employees and supervisors aware of the incident reporting policy?

Safety Planning

  • Is the Project Safety Plan complete and does it adequately identify all high risk activity?

Fire Prevention

  • Are fire extinguishers readily available and up to date with annual and monthly inspections?

  • Is garbage and debris removed regularly?

  • Are flammable and combustible liquids and gases stored properly?

  • Are temporary heaters installed and used properly including clearance around combustible materials?

  • Has a hot work permit permit been obtained, where applicable, and all permit conditions met?

Hand and Power Tools

  • Are all hand and power tools being used correctly?

  • Are all guards, handles, and other safety features in place?

  • Are knives and other sharp tools properly sheathed or stored to prevent injury?

  • Are electric power tools grounded (three prong plug) or double insulated?

  • Are the air hoses on pneumatic power tools secured to prevent disconnection?

Ergonomic Risk Factors

  • Do employees recognize and avoid ergonomic risks including heavy lifting, excessive force, awkward postures, or contact stress?
