  • Verify the pipe bedding thickness will be select granular material at a depth of 1/4 of O.D. of pipe + 4", and 1/2 O.D. on the haunches of the pipe at 90% compaction

  • Verify that backfilling of areas that are sidewalks, or seeded areas may be placed in lifts of 8" and after the first 12" above the pipe, and compacted to 90% for cohesive soils and 95% for non cohesive, at a frequency of 5,000 sq ft for those areas compacted by other than hand operated equipment, otherwise compaction requirements of one per 2,500 sq.ft. In areas supporting airfield pavements the requirement is 6" lifts and 100% every 2,500 sq. ft. regardless of equipment being used.
