Subpart E- Personal Protective Equipment

  • Is eye protection being worn at all times by everyone on site? TCI Policy

  • Are hard hats being worn at all times by everyone on site? TCI Policy

  • Are hi-viz reflective vests / shirts being worn at all times by everyone on site? TCI Policy

Subpart F- Fire Protection

  • Fire extinguishers shall be provided for every 3,000 sq/ft of building space, shall not exceed 100ft travel distance. 1926.150(c)(1)

  • FE shall be located adjacent to stairway in multi-story buildings. 1926.150(c)(1)(iv)

  • Fire extinguisher shall be provided within 50ft of area with greater than 5gal flammables storage. 1926.150(c)(1)(vi)

  • Fire extinguishers shall be inspected and maintained per NFPA. 1926.150(c)(1)(viii)

  • There shall be no more than 25 gallons of flammables stored outside of approved storage cabinets. 1926.152(b)(1)

  • Solid fuel salamanders are prohibited in buildings and on scaffolds. 1926.154(d)

  • Fire extinguishers shall be located in areas that welding or cutting is active. 1926.352(d)

Subpart G- Signage

Subpart H- Material Handling / Storage

  • All materials stored in tiers shall be secured to prevent sliding, falling, or collapse. 1926.250(a)(1)

  • Aisles and passageways shall be kept clear to provide free and safe movement. 1926.250(a)(3)

  • Brick stacks shall be no more than 7ft in height. 1926.250(b)(6)

  • Masonry block stacked higher than 6ft shall be tapered back 1/2 block per tier. 1926.250(b)(7)

Subpart I- Hand and Power Tools

  • Power operated tools designed to have guards shall be equipped with such guards. 1926.300(b)(1)

  • Power tools shall be grounded (3 prong plug) and / or double insulated. 1926.302(a)(i)

Subpart J- Welding / Cutting

  • Valve protection caps shall be in place when stored. 1926.350(a)(1)

  • Compressed gas cylinder shall be secured in an upright position. 1926.350(a)(9)

  • Oxygen cylinders in storage shall be separated from fuel gas cylinders, minimum distance of 20ft or by non-combustible barrier at least 5ft in height and having 1/2 hour fire rating. 1926.350(a)(10)

Subpart K- Electrical

  • Electrical closet shall be controlled by qualified person under lock and key. 1926.403(j)(2)

  • Electrical cords shall be visually inspected before each use for defects and shall have weekly TCI color code attached.

  • General construction lighting shall be not less than 5FC. 1926.56(a)

  • All lamps for general illumination shall be protected from accidental contact or breakage. 1926.405(a)(2)(ii)(E)

  • All temp. power outlets shall be supplied with GFCI. 1926.404(b)(1)

Subpart L- Scaffolds

  • Scaffolds shall be erected / moved / dismantled only under the supervision and direction of a competent person. 1926.451(f)(7)

  • Each platform on all working levels shall be fully planked / decked. 1926.457(b)(1)

  • Scaffold frames shall bear on base plates and mud sills or other adequate firm foundation. 1926.457(c)(2)

  • Scaffolds with a height to base width greater than 4-1 shall be restrained from tipping. 1926.457(c)(1)(ii)

  • Debris shall not accumulate on scaffold platforms. 1926.457(f)(13)

  • Guardrail systems installed shall meet fall protection requirements. 1926.451(g)(4)(i)

  • Proper access and egress shall be provided. 1926.451(e)

  • TCI Competent person inspection signature sheet shall be completed daily prior to start of work. 1926.451(f)(3)

Subpart M- Fall Protection

  • Unprotected sides or edges 6ft or greater shall have a guardrail system. 1926.50(b)(1)

  • PFAS shall be used when guardrail systems are not feasible at heights 6ft or greater. 1926.501(b)(2)(i)

  • Warning line systems shall be erected not less than 6ft from the roof edge. 1926.501(b)(2)(ii)

  • Guardrails shall include top rail of 42inches +\- 3, midrail shall be installed midway from top rail to working level, with toe board. Guardrail system shall be capable of withstanding 200 lbs of force. 1926.502(b)(1)

  • Personal fall arrest system shall be worn and attached to the boom or basket when working from an aerial lift. 1926.453(b)(2)(v)

  • Holes greater than 2 inches in diameter shall be marked "HOLE" and secured to prevent displacement. 1926.502(i)(4)

  • Controlled access zones shall be established with physical barriers. 1926.502(g)(1)

  • Wire cable used as guardrail system shall be flagged at 6ft intervals. 1926.502(f)(2)(i)

  • Openings lower than 39" shall be guarded. 1926.502(b)(14)

Subpart P- Excavations

  • Ladders shall be provided for access / egress within 25ft of any worker. 1926.657(c)(2)

  • Ladders provided for access / egress in trench/ excavations greater than 4ft? 1926.657(c)(2)

  • Spoils shall be placed at a minimum of 2ft from the edge. 1926.657(j)(2)

  • Proper sloping / benching / shoring / boxing shall be provided for any excavations greater than 5ft in depth. 1926.652(b)

  • Physical barrier shall be provided at the top edge of excavation work. 1926.651(f)

  • TCI competent person inspection signature sheet shall be completed daily. 1926.651(k)(1)

Subpart Q- Concrete / Masonry

  • All reinforcing steel onto and into which individuals may fall shall be guarded. 1926.701(b)

  • Protruding rods, conduit, or similar devices shall be protected against impalement. 1926.701(b)

  • Masonry saw shall be guarded with a semicircular enclosure over the blade. 1926.702(i)(1)

Subpart R- Steel Erection

  • Site-specific erection plan shall be developed and submitted by a qualified person, and be available on site. 1926.752(e)

  • Connectors shall wear necessary fall protection at heights over 15ft and up to 30 ft, with the capability of being tied off. 1926.760(b)(3)

  • The boundaries of a CDZ shall be designated and clearly marked. 1926.760(b)(3)

Subpart CC- Cranes and Rigging

  • Cranes shall be inspected / documented on a daily basis by competent person. 1926.1412(d)

  • Cranes shall be inspected monthly and annually per 1926.1412(e-f)

Subpart X- Ladders/ Stairways

  • Extension ladders shall be secured and extended a minimum of 3 ft above landing surface. 1926.1053(b)(1)

  • Top step of stepladder shall not be used as a step. 1926.1053(b)(13)

  • Ladder and stair access and egress points shall remain clean and free of debris.

  • Ladder angle shall be 1/4 of working length of the ladder. 1926.1053(b)(5)

  • Ladders shall be maintained in good working condition. 1926.1053(a)

  • Ladders shall be used only for the purpose for which they were designed. 1926.1053(b)(4)

  • Ladders shall be used on level surfaces unless secured. 1926.1053(b)(6)
