Restrooms

Floors
Are the floors clean? Inspect the floor surface in the restroom. This includes the floor in the general area and unattended cubicles. This includes skirting tiles and floor edges.

Answer YES if: the floor surface is;
a) Free from a build up of dirt, dust or grime, including in corners. A build up is considered debris greater than 1mm thick
c) Free from scuffs or smears longer than 15cm
d) Free from discolouration or stains measuring more than 15cm in diameter
e) Free from puddles of water greater than 15cm in diameter
f) More than 15% of grouting free from discolouration or staining; and
g) There are less than 4 pieces of paper or rubbish larger than 10cm x 10cm.

Toilet bowl, cistern & urinals
Are the rest room toilet bowls, toilet seats, urinals and wall tiles under urinals clean? Check all unattended cubicles in the restroom.

Answer YES if: all unattended toilet bowls, seats & urinals are free from:
a) A build-up of stains, residue or debris
b) A build up of uric acid greater than 4cm on tiles or fittings.

Toilet Paper, Soap and Paper Hand Towel Dispensers
Are toilet paper, soap and hand towel dispensers in the restroom clean and well stocked? Check all toilet paper, soap and paper hand towel dispensers in the restroom (check unattended cubicles and soap dispensers).

Answer YES if: all toilet paper, soap and paper hand towel dispensers are:
a) Free from smears greater than 5cm long
b) Free from visible build-up of dust PLUS
c) Well stocked:
- At least a 1/4 of a roll of toilet paper available in each cubicle
- Hand soap available in each dispensers
- Paper towels available in at least 50% of dispensers (where hand towel dispensers are provided).

Ceilings, Ceiling Vents & Lights
Are the ceiling, ceiling vents and lights clean? Inspect the ceiling, ceiling vents, lights and pipes in the restroom. Ceiling vents include extractor fans and air conditioning vents.

Answer YES if: all ceiling surfaces, vents, pipes and lights are:
a) Free from a build up of dirt or grime in corners
b) Free from cobwebs, dead insects or hair balls
c) Free from a visible dust build-up covering more than 10% of the item and more than 1mm thick
d) Free from scuffs or smears longer than 5cm
e) Free from discolouration or stains measuring more than 5cm in diameter
f) Free from cleaning product build up.

Mirrors, taps, Basins and Bench Tops
Are the mirrors, taps, basins & bench tops clean? Inspect the mirrors, taps, basins, bench tops and change tables in the rest room.

Answer YES if: all mirrors, taps, basins, bench tops and change tables meet the standard below.
a) Bench tops free from soap overflow greater than 2cm x 2cm
b) Bench tops free from puddles (larger than 15cm in diameter)
c) Vanity mirrors free from visible dirt, hairs, dust and make-up (female rest rooms)
d) Taps free from scale build-up
e) Basins free of smears, soap residue and marks greater than 3cm in length
f) Basin drains and tap surrounds free from scale, mould or grime build-up
g) Mirrors free from dust and build up of grime in corners
h) Mirrors are free from more than 2 marks and smears greater that 2cm in length
i) Bench tops free of streaks and polished to a high lustre.

Note: Bench tops are where the hand wash basins are located, vanities are where the make - up mirrors are located in the female toilets.

Walls, Doors & Partitions
Are the walls, doors and partitions clean? Please inspect all wall surfaces in the restroom plus the entry door. This includes the wall in the general area and unattended cubicles.

Answer YES if: all wall and door surfaces are:
a) Free from a build up of dirt or grime
b) Free from cobwebs, dead insects or dust
c) Free from scuffs or smears longer than 5cm
d) Free from discolouration or stains measuring more than 5cm in diameter
e) Free from cleaning product build up
f) More that 15% of grouting free from discolouration or staining
g) Free from graffiti
h) Tiles are polished to a high lustre.

Bins & Liners
Are the bins clean, have capacity for more rubbish and lined with the correct bin liner? Inspect rubbish bins in the restroom.

Answer YES if: rubbish bins were:
a) Free from visible dust, grime, dirt or spills covering more then 10% of the item
b) Free from discolouration or graffiti
c) Free from more than one smear greater than 5cm long per bin
d) Free from unpleasant odour; and
e) Bin liner in place, secured to the bin and fits the size of the bin.
f) Bins are not overflowing.

Odour
Does the restroom have a pleasant odour? Answer YES if: upon entry to the restroom
a) There is no unpleasant or offensive odour lingering throughout the entire restroom.

Sanitary Bins
Are the sanitary bins clean and well presented? Inspect any sanitary bins in the unattended cubicles (where provided).

Answer YES if: all sanitary bins are:
a) Free from scale, mould or mildew
b) Free from dust, dirt or spills
c) Free from unpleasant odours
d) No biological waste on the outside of the unit.

Parents Room

Floors
Are the floors clean? Inspect the floor surface in the parents room. This includes the floor in the general area and unattended cubicles. This includes skirting tiles and floor edges.

Answer YES if: the floor surface is;
a) Free from a build up of dirt, dust or grime, including in corners. A build up is considered debris greater than 1mm thick
b) Free from more than 2 dead insects
c) Free from build up of hair and fluff balls
d) Free from scuffs or smears longer than 15cm
e) Free from discolouration or stains measuring more than 15cm in diameter
f) Free from puddles of water greater than 15cm in diameter
g) More than 15% of grouting free from discolouration or staining
h) There are less than 4 pieces of paper or rubbish larger than 10cm x 10cm.

Toilet Bowl & Cistern
Are the child / parents toilet bowls & toilet seats clean? Please check the child and parents toilet.

Answer YES if: toilet bowls & seats are free from:
a) A build-up of stains, residue or debris
b) A build up of uric acid greater than 4cm on tiles or fittings.

a) Free from visible dust, grime, dirt or spills covering more then 10% of the item
b) Free from discolouration or graffiti
c) Free from more than one smear greater than 5cm long per bin
d) Free from unpleasant odour; and
e) Bin liner in place, secured to the bin and fits the size of the bin.
f) Bins are not overflowing.

Odour
Does the parents room have a pleasant odour? Answer YES if: upon entry to the parents room
a) There is no unpleasant or offensive odour lingering throughout the entire parents room.

Microwave/Bottle Warmer
Is the microwave/bottle warmer clean? Answer YES if: the microwave is
a) Free from food spills, splatters, crumbs or smears inside
b) Free from food spills, splatters or smears on the outside
c) Free from milk stains and odour.

Parents Room and Play Area
Is the play area tidy and free from rubbish? Inspect the children's play area

Answer YES if: the children's play area was clean & tidy, including:
a) No more than 3 pieces of paper or rubbish (larger than 10cm x 10cm) on the floor of the play area
b) Children's amusement devices free from smears and marks greater than 3cm in length
c) Glass fencing free from no more than 2 handprints or 2 smears greater than 3 cm in length.

Sanitary Bins
Are the sanitary bins clean and well presented? Inspect any sanitary bins in the unattended cubicles (where provided).

Answer YES if: all sanitary bins are:
a) Free from scale, mould or mildew
b) Free from dust, dirt or spills
c) Free from unpleasant odours
d) No biological waste on the outside of the unit.
