Tyres and Rims Are all controls in place?

 • Critical Control (CT.00024952)
Exclusion zones when working with tyres and rims (All non-essential personnel shall be removed from area prior to inflation. All tyres to be remote inflated and outside of the exclusion zone as per SOP tyre and rims).
• Critical Control (CT.00024951)
Tyre and Rim Fitment -All mating surfaces of the bead seat band, locking ring, and gutter/top section of rim are to be free of paint/dirt/dust and foreign objects when fitted. Damaged components are to be replaced).
• Critical Control (CT.00024951)
Fit for Purpose tyre and rims – weekly gauge calibration checks, NDT testing of rims and componentry at intervals recommended by manufacturer. No mixing and matching of rim components from different manufacturers.
• Critical Controls (CT.00024952)
Tyre Fire Exclusion Zones – specified exclusion zones and tyre fire TARP are complied with.
• Critical Control (CT.00024950)
Tyre Inflation - Less than 70% Rule (Compliance with SOP - SME Cat 2& LV - Any tyre assembly damaged or tyres found with pressures below 70% of the recommended cold inflation pressure (after being parked) are to be removed and discarded. SME Cat 1 tyre to be removed and inspected for reuse.
Risk Assessment

 • Confirm whether a JSA is place for the task?

 • Photograph the JRA Front Page

 • Ask the work group what step in the JSA process they are at and confirm that the hazards identified by the work group are listed in the JSA? Write down any differences.

 • Ask the work group to explain the control measures they have in place for the current job step and review this against the JSA are they listed? Write down any differences.

 • Are the controls chosen the most appropriate and effective for the hazards identified?

 • Review the workgroups SLAMs. Have they listed the hazards and controls in place as discussed in the JSA review? Are there any differences?

 • Does the Tyre Handler Controls have tyre Fall Back Arrestors?

 • Authorised Tyre Fitters – Remove and fit wheels assemblies and remove, repair and refit tyres and tubes. Authorisation for competent tyre fitters to perform the tasks. Tyre Fitters to be trained and competent.

 • Record The Names of the Tyre Fitters:

 • Are there appropriate traffic controls in place? Area segregated from normal traffic flow?

 • Is the machine fundamentally stable?

 • Has the machine been isolated? With individual locks and tags applied.

 • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in place?

 • Prestart on tyre handler up to date?

 • Is the deflation muffler serviceable and utilized?

 • Are suitably sized Jacks utilized?

 • Are safety collets and caps installed on Jack?

 • Is the correct jacking point being utilized?

 • Are safety clips in place for adjoining air lines?

 • Are tyre change-out sheets available?

 • Discuss with the tyre fitters the process for inflation and deflation of tyres.
All personnel shall be outside exclusion zone for inflation and deflation as per SOP. Is the exclusion zone demarcated?
• Confirm tyre master gauge is in calibration (within the last 12mths)? Operational tyre gauges shall be calibrated monthly and record on the register. Confirm that the torque device has been appropriately calibrated.

 • Take a photograph of the Master Gauge.

 • Review records that Non Destructive testing is being conducted on SME Cat 1 rims and wheel assemblies (min 10000hours or 5 years).

 • Discuss with the tyre fitter the process they go through to ensure all mating surfaces are free from paint dirt or other contaminants.

 • Discuss with Tyre fitters the change out of the lock rings on each replacement for Cat 1.

 • Discuss with the tyre fitter the sites process for hot tyres or tyre pyrolysis?
Vehicle is to be parked up with an exclusion zone set up.
• Review Tyre sense to confirm all operational.
