1. Environmental Assessment and Planning

  • Does the JSA identify environmental risks?

  • Does the JSA identify controls to mitigate the identified environmental risks?

  • Have the appropriate controls been put in place on site?

  • Are the potential environmental risks and issues understood by the Site Supervisor or Manager?

  • Are staff aware of how to report an environmental hazard/near miss/incident?

2. Cultural Heritage

3. Flora and Fauna

  • Are all excavations and intrusive works conducted in accordance with EcoLink Biodiversity Plan?

  • Has fencing or para webbing been placed around vegetation of significance/scar tree in areas where excavations are planned?

  • Have environmental controls in the relevant Stage Works Management Plan been implemented?

  • Has due care and attention been given to excavations beneath the drip lines of any trees?

  • Are the drip lines of any trees on site free of large/heavy equipment?

4. Sediment and erosion management

  • Have sediment controls been installed before excavations commence?

  • Are sediment controls installed so that run off is protected for entering stormwater drains and other receptors i.e. creeks and rivers?

  • Are stormwater pits fitted with drainage socks before excavations commence?

  • Are stockpiles of excavated material stored away from vegetation?

  • Have roads been cleaned after work in the area have been completed?

5. Waste Management

  • Do site staff have access to the relevant waste management procedures?

  • If handling contaminated soils, do the vehicles being used have the required EPA certificates/licences?

  • If contaminated soil or material was encountered, was it taken directly to a licenced EPA waste facility?

  • Is material such as soil, crushed rock and asphalt stored so that it does not pose a threat to the environment?

  • Are vacuum trucks either on standby or on site for all drilling works in the event of frac-out?

  • Is there a 300mm freeboard implemented on all drilling fluid containers?

  • Is the waste area well maintained and tidy?

6. Noise and dust

  • Is noisy plant and machinery switched off when not in use?

  • Are dust generating activities (i.e. concrete cutting), being managed correctly i.e. water hoses attached to cutting equipment?

7. Hazardous Material Management

  • Are all fuels and/or chemicals properly marked?

  • Are all fuels and/or chemicals stored in containers that are in good condition (i.e. no leaks present) as per MNG-CG-0016?

  • Are SDS available for the chemicals stored on site?

  • Are spill kits available, and if required, in use correctly?

  • Is large mobile plant in good condition? (I.e. no sign of leaking and well maintained)?

  • Has all refuelling of plant or equipment taken place at least 50m from a watercourse?

8. Reinstatement

  • Have nature strips been returned to a suitable condition (seeded correctly, grass reinstated if available?)

  • Has all stockpiled material been removed from previous construction areas?

  • Have all footpaths and roads been cleaned?
