Records and Documentation by Consultant

Material

  • Use of a correct type of waterproofing system under HDB's materials list and building specification

  • Use of a mechanical mixer (two-part system for cementitious waterproofing membrane)

Substrate Preparation

  • Substrate in sound & dry condition (surface flat & even / adequate fall to outlets)

  • Pipe/floor openings fitted

  • Wall rendered flat and even

  • 45o mortar fillet to edge between floor and wall or pipes

  • No surface ponding or running water

  • Cleanliness (free of dust, & laitance)

Waterproofing Membrane Application

  • Application of 1st coat with a roller or brush (allow first coat to dry to touch)

  • Application of 2nd coat in perpendicular direction to the 1st coat

  • Corners and pipe properly coated with the aid of a brush

  • Upturn of at least 200 mm onto walls

  • Upturn of at least 50 mm onto pipes

  • Upturn onto the kerb as shown in the drawing

  • No air entrapped in the membrane

  • Kitchen/service yard outlets – coverage of 400mm radius from the centre of outlet

  • Thickness according to manufacturer’s recommendation (use wet film thickness gauge for checking film thickness of membrane when it is still wet)

  • Proper protection (after completion cordoned off the areas till protective covering or screed has been laid)

Curing & Protective Screed

  • Adequate curing between 1st & 2nd coat application<br>(subject to weather condition)

  • Application of approved pre-packed waterproof screed to protect the waterproof membrane (to be done on the following day after the curing of 2nd coat)

  • Use of mechanical mixer & water measuring gauge

  • Adequate fall towards outlets

  • Minimum screed thickness = 15mm

  • Provision of screed with rough surface

Water test

  • A minimum depth of 10mm water flooding test for 24 hours within 1 month after application of waterproofing membrane and protective screed

  • A minimum depth of 10mm water flooding test for 24 hours within 1 month before handing over inspection

Warranty for Complete System of Waterproofing System

  • The Contractor and the Specialist jointly provide warrant for a period of five (5) years
