Shop Safety

  • Are bins emptied and the exterior bin locked?

  • Are there no smoking signs displayed?

  • Check appliances and ensure all items ate PAT tested.

  • Do all extension cables have an RCD Adaptor in use?

  • Are all contents of the COSHH cupboard in the COSHH Risk Assessment folder?

  • Take pictures of items that require COSHH Risk Assessments and write details in the notes

Emergency Lighting

  • Does the shop have a fish key to hand?

  • Is the flick test being completed monthly?

  • Has the hour long discharge been completed in the last three months?

  • Has the annual 3 hour discharge been completed in the last 12 months?

  • If there are any issues issues or concerns with the emergency lights, have they been reported?

Working at Height

  • Does the shop have a safe and working kick stool to stand on?

  • Does the shop have a step ladder?

  • Does the step ladder have more than three steps?

  • Does the step ladder have damage or worn feet?

  • Does the step ladder show any signs of damage to welds, rungs or tie rods?

First Aid

  • Is the First Aid kit accessible and in date?

  • Are the contents correct? Check for plasters!

Employee / Volunteer Check

  • Are any employees / volunteers new or expectant mothers?

  • Are any employees or volunteers under the age of 18 years?

  • Are there any concerns about the health & wellbeing of colleagues at the shop?

  • If applicable, has all sickness & absence been reported to HR?

PPE

  • Are safety gloves available to colleagues if they wish to use them?

  • Are all accidents and incidents being reported to the Retail Management team / recorded on Sentinel?

Fire Safety

  • Has the drill been carried out in the last six months?

  • Are the Means of Escape being inspected weekly?

  • Are the Fire Extinguishers being checked weekly?

  • Is the Fire Alarm being tested weekly?

  • Are the smoke detectors / heat sensors being tested weekly?

  • Are the fire doors being checked weekly?

  • Are there sufficient Fire Exit Signs in the shop?

  • Are there sufficient Fire Actions signs in the premises?
