A Quality Control Plan is necessary because it aims to do the following: It aims to direct conformance to the customer’s requirements based on the quality assurance. It aims to verify the external and internal standards and procedures required of the organisation. It provides traceability. It provides objective evidence. It indicates where the organisation should have more training and which areas need improvement. It offers insight into the effectiveness of the quality management system.

The following are included in the Quality Control Plan: Objectives to be attained - a QCP is necessary as it ensures that the organisation first defines the objectives that they aim to attain. This would include the specifications, the characteristics, the effectiveness, the cycle time, cost, the natural resources, and yield dependability and so on. The QCP must also help look at the practices and procedures that the employees should know more about. The allocation of responsibilities, as part of the QCP, is also a reason why it is necessary. The QCP must also include specific documented standards, practices, procedures, as well as the instructions to be applied and this is necessary as part of the standard to ensure the quality that it aims to reach.

To create a Quality Control Plan initially requires the importance of initial audits of the suppliers. The initial audits need to look at specific aspects of the supply chain. One would need to look at the important equipment, materials, processes, the workforce including the management quality plan. A good quality control plan should also look at the supplier and whether or not they are able to provide information and conformance with a plan.
