A. Mine Operating Environment

  • Operator can correctly identify and discuss understanding that at no time shall a mobile phone be used whilst driving or onsite. Operator can discuss when it is ok to use a phone.

  • This VOC only covers this particular truck model. You will need to sit a familiarisation for each additional individual truck model.

B. Workplace Communication & Coordination

  • Operator can correctly identify and discuss understanding of who the operator might need to communicate with during shift to ensure effective operations?

  • Operator can correctly identify and discuss understanding of other types of equipment the operator might be required to coordinate with during their work?

  • Operator can correctly identify and discuss understanding of communications with the truck scheduler?

  • Operator can correctly identify and discuss understanding of types of products a 60m Multi-combination vehicle operator might be required to carry?

D. Pre-start Checks & Procedures

  • Operator can correctly check for and identify vehicle safety checks including:- Fluid levels / Fluid Leaks / Engine bay inspection / Cab mounts / Load security and safety / maintenance tags / mirrors - windscreens & Windows / Rego's and Permits are current and in truck.

  • Operator can correctly check for and identify safety equipment including:- Wheel Chocks / Warning Triangles / First aid Kit / portable fire extinguisher / Steer tyre pressure indicators

  • Operator can correctly check for and identify vehicle safety & road worthiness including:- Tyre condition & pressure / wheel nuts / squirrels or indicators and hubs / No combustible material around exhaust / complete 360 degree walk around / proximity of other personnel.

  • Operator can correctly check for and identify vehicle communications and safety including:- Checking all 2-way communications are working / Checks the IVCS and ensures cameras are not obstructed and Lenses are clean / Checks air conditioner is working.

E. Start up procdure

  • Operator can correctly identify & utilise correct horn signals

  • Operator can identify & utilise engine diagnostic system & starts vehicle correctly

  • Operator correctly warms engine and machine systems / monitors gauges and indicators for levels and pressures.

  • Operator can correctly identify & conduct tests for foot and parking brakes and familiarises themselves with the tipping controls

  • Operator can correctly identify & correctly logs onto In Vehicle Monitoring System and enters correct details and information

F. Operation of Road Train Vehicle

  • Before take off, operator ensures seat belts are applied (including passenger) & Uses correct horn signals?

  • Operator selects correct gear and achieves smooth take off?

  • Operates vehicle in accordance with site transport rules and other W.A. road rules, also ensuring:- Correct following distance is maintained / uses two hands on the steering wheel at all times / operate uses good observation techniques whilst operating (Front, rear, left & Right)?

  • Operator utilises:- Correct use of signals and indicators / Correct vehicle positioning is maintained on road / Operates vehicle to maximise performance capability and efficiency?

  • Operator correctly applies brakes before entering corners and turns / selects correct gearing prior to entering corners and turns maintaining power / correctly drives to conditions (Wet - slippery or poor visibility) / changes gear to maintain specified torque range at all speeds / utlises engine retarder?

  • Operator performs regular tyre checks throughout and shift and monitors vehicle performance and notifies workshop or supervisor of any developing problems?

  • If required, operator utilsies correct 2-way communications before overtaking?

  • Operator correctly brings vehicle to a controlled stop?

  • Operator ensures the diff lock is engaged on all mine sites?

  • Operator maintains sufficient clearance from other other equipment and adheres to exclusion zone procedures?

G. Supervise loading of products

  • Operator parks vehicle in appropriate area with park break applied / Engages PTO with the use of clutch and leaves engine on low idle / lifts lids to full extent / once instructed, operator enters loading area?

  • When in loading area operator :- Disengages PTO / remains in cabin during loading process / calculates weights and communicates with loader driver / once instructed operator moves vehicle forward?

  • Once loading is complete, operator moves away from loading area and parks in a safe location / engages PTO with the use of clutch and leaves engine on low idle / operator proceeds to lower lids if fitted (4, 3, 2, 1) using Diverter valve, or rolls Tarps.

  • Operator exits vehicle using 3 points of contact / inspects trailers, guards and chassis for spilt material taking note of any damage that may have been caused. Once all clear, operator enters truck utilising 3 points of contact?

  • Operator proceeds to weighbridge ensuring positive 2-way communications / enters weighbridge in low gear / positions vehicle on the weigh bridge correctly / refrains from using brakes or changing gears while on weighbridge / completes all required paperwork as per site requirements?

  • Operator leaves weigh bridge with positive 2-way communications and proceeds to correct unloading site / Operator regularly checks trailers for product build up (hang up) and if required cleans accordingly in appropriate area as per SOP?

H. Unloading of Products

  • Operator approaches unloading site using correct and positive 2-way communications / follows all instructions given with a good attitude?

  • Operator approaches bunker in 1st gear and moves to bunker when there is a solid AMBER light / Keeping about 500mm from concrete barrier / Operator stops when given a solid RED light and checks meter mark on the guard rail to ensure correct positioning and applies park brake / Operator waits for GREEN light and double checks position on meter mark?

  • Operator ensures all tipping controls are in the neutral position / Engages PTO with the use of clutch / Selects trailer to be tipped and engages the Diverter valve / Operator monitors trailer being tipped and ensures the correct trailer is moving and no contact is made with bunker flags / Tipping is controlled by the Diverter valve only and at no higher than low idle?

  • Operator uses positive 2-way communications on completion of unloading process and leaving the bunker?

I. Park up & Shutdown Procedures

  • Operator parks in safe location, not on edge of stockpile or high wall / Engages park brake / Operator allows 5 minute idle cool down of vehicle before shutting down adhering to correct procedure?

  • Operator performs house keeping within cabin /safely disembarks using 3 points of contact?

  • Operator isolates power / allows for safe access by others / Locks-secures vehicle if required?

  • Operator notifies correct person of machine location / informs cross shift if any relevant information to any operational changes i,.e. roadworks, site changes, weather conditions etc. ?
