General Site Conditions

  • Do all barricaded areas have sufficient fire extinguishers within the barricaded area?

  • Are all electrical cords taped or secured so they are not a trip hazard?

  • Is general housekeeping on the site maintained (including areas in front and behind barricades)?

  • Are tools properly stored when not in use?

  • Are all construction entrances to barricaded areas marked with "Authorized Personnel Only" signage?

  • Are all work areas, tool storage, equipment, and lay-down areas properly marked and barricaded or protected?

  • Do all fenced areas have "no trespassing" signs posted on perimeter fencing?

  • Is the work area adequately lit?

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

  • Are all employees and subcontractors employees wearing safety glasses?

  • Are employees working at or above the grid inside or working on scaffolding outside wearing hard hats?

  • Are employees doing demolition or working where there are overhead hazards wearing hard hats?

  • Are all workers who are carrying tools or materials in excess of 55lbs, or who may be exposed to other foot hazards wearing steel toe boots?

  • Are all workers working in active traffic areas either on lifts or on foot wearing a hi-visibility vest, jacket or other hi-viz clothing?

Electrical Safety

  • Are all extension cords and tool cords free from visible damage?<br>

  • Do all cords have a properly grounded plug (all three prongs are present on plug)?

  • Are GFCI (ground fault) receptacles in use on all power source cords and tools?

  • Are guards in place on power tools?

Powered Lifts

  • Do all operators of powered lifts have appropriate and current (w/in 3 years) licensing through Woods to operate that equipment?

  • Are all scissor lift chains in place?

  • Are all feet planted on the platforms of the lifts (I.e. not on railings)?

  • Are the lifts free from debris?

  • Are all lifts free from signs of damage?

  • Contact the rental company and have them fix or replace the lift.

  • Lull and Forklift: are seat belts being used?

  • Do all back up lights and alarms work?

  • Contact rental company and have the lift fixed or replaced.

  • Articulating boom and mobile platforms attached to lifts: are harnesses being used, properly worn and properly tethered?

  • Are operators of lifts outside the building wearing DOT / Hi-Viz vest?

General Safety - Observations

  • Are all barricade doors closed and locked?

  • Are all barricade edges lined up so there are no trip hazards?

  • Are all ladders in use being used safely? Set up correctly / No standing on top 2 steps / etc...?

  • Do scaffolds have working locks on each wheel?

  • Do all emergency exit routes and doors have free and easy access and a clear path of travel both to the door and from the door away from the building?

  • Are all fire extinguishers, electrical panels, fire risers/shutoffs, and other emergency equipment free from obstruction and clearly accessible?

  • Are all workers operating internal combustion equipment inside the building or other enclosed space(s) using a Carbon Monoxide monitor?

  • Are all propane containers NOT IN USE stored outside the building?

  • Do all containers containing chemicals have a label showing container contents?

  • Are all gas cans on site metal and labeled?

  • Are workers involved in spraying operations wearing approved respirators?

  • Is there adequate ventilation in the work area?

  • Are workers within 10 feet of leading edge (>6' fall to next level) wearing harness and tether to approved attachment point (5400 lbs cap.)?

  • Are all work and customer areas free from trip/fall hazards observed inside or out as you walk the site (flooring transitions, temporary flooring changes, sidewalks, parking lots, etc...)?
