Body Department - Hazardous Waste

  • Is bondo waste properly disposed of corectly for the entire shop (sandpaper dust, tubes, sandpaper, seam sealer cartridges)?

  • Are empty oil and antifreeze bottles properly disposed of according to the No Drip Rule?

  • Are the body techs collecting all headlamps for recycling? Compare work done that day vs what's in the bin.

  • Hazardous waste is properly stored, labeled, grounded and segregated?

Paint Dept - Hazardous Waste

  • Does the paint department have the correct grey trash bins? Are they properly labeled?

  • Spray booth filters are maintained and are on a change-out schedule as per manufacturer's recommendation? Is the log posted or in a binder?

  • Are painters properly disposing of all liquid paint waste (both solvent and aqueous)?

  • All flammable in 5 gallon or larger containers are grounded and on a secondary pallet?

  • Are painters disposing of all paint waste from paint cups in the correct waste drum (sticks, strainers, gloves, cans, etc.)?

  • Are flammable paint wipers properly disposed of for the entire shop?

  • Are aerosol cans properly disposed of for the entire shop?

  • Are painters disposing of empty drums in the metal recycle container?

  • Is the shop documenting VOC content that is not recorded on a paint scale? (i.e. thinners, aerosols, reducers, hardeners). Take pic of permit when possible.

  • Hazardous waste is properly stored, labeled, grounded and segregated?

Mechnanic Area - Hazardous Waste

  • Is the used oil properly disposed of in the correct drum?

  • Is the used antifreeze properly disposed of in the correct drum?

  • Are the used oil filters properly disposed of in the correct drum?

  • Are oily absorbents and oily rags disposed of the in the correct drum?

  • Hazardous waste is properly stored, labeled, grounded and segregated?

Detail - Hazardous Waste

  • Is the detailer washing cars outside the wash bay or shop?

  • Is the water waste trap properly working?

Dumpsters

  • Do the dumpsters have a lock and are they locked 24 hrs?

  • Any other safety related issues that need to be addressed?
