TIRES / WHEELS / RIMS

  • Check air pressure.

Emergency Lighting and Sirens

  • Check that all headlights, turn signals, brake lights, and marking lights are all working.

  • Inspect the truck's load-manager system.

  • Check that the emergency lighting is intact and working.

  • Check that the mechanical and electrical sirens are securely mounted and working.

Radios Check the following settings...

  • VHF mobile radio is set to the ICOM Chanel with the scan enabled.

  • 800 mhz radios are set to Fire Dispatch with the scan enabled.

  • VHF portable radios are set to MABAS Red with the scan off.

  • All portable radio batteries are charged and have been tested.

  • FireCom system is set to transmit on 800 MHz Fire Dispatch channel.

Apparatus Fire Pump

  • Place the pump into gear.

  • Operate pump primer.

  • Ensure the foam system is set to 3%.

  • Check that all pre-connected hoses, valves, caps, and appliances are securely mounted.

  • Circulate water through pump at 100 psi (open tank to pump and recirculating valves).

  • Check to ensure that the booster tank and foam tank are both full.

Small Engine Tools

  • Check that tools are free from leaks and mechanical discrepancies.

  • Start all tools and make sure they start easily and do not lose power while at idle.

  • Check to ensure the oil and fuel reservoirs are full.

Aerial Ladder Inspection

  • Check that ladder sections and rungs are aligned, functional, safe, and sound.

  • Inspect that the ladder cradle is free from damage.

  • Check cables for lubrication and free of damage.

  • Deploy aerial ladder and check operations.

  • Ensure all visual and audible alarms are operational.

  • Ensure both aerial waterway monitors are operating correctly.

  • Check to see if breathing air system is working and is full.
