Do First (in order)

Adjust and secure lines and fenders

Shore Power Reconnect and AC Panel

  • Do these steps in order to minimize electrical hazard risk

  • All shipside "AC Main" breakers off, incl. "AC Main" (panel in cabin)

  • Connect shipside power plug

  • Shore AC breaker off (on dock pedestal)

  • Connect shoreside power plug

  • Ensure there is enough slack in the AC cable so that it is not stressed as the boat moves. Route either over midship cleat or at the bow bow, not at stern)

  • Shoreside breaker on

  • Shipside "AC Main" breaker on

  • Verify AC power ("AC Main" breaker LED green)

  • Turn on "Eng Heater"

  • Turn on "Water Heater" (helps keep water supply from freezing)

  • Turn on "Fwd Outlets"

  • Turn on "Salon Outlets"

  • Check that "reverse polarity light" is OFF

Other

  • Reset trim tabs (do before opening engine compartment)

Do Next (any order)

Inspect engine and engine compartment

  • To open engine compartment, press rocker switch just inside main cabin door. Note that the two engine compartment toggles must show the red dot (unlocked) or the compartment will not open

  • Fluids (non-water) in bildge? (Please include photo)

  • Describe fluid (color, viscosity, etc.)

  • Other issues? (Describe in notes)

DC Power and Diesel Heat

  • Turn off diesel heat (Webasto panel power button)

  • Diesel heat should be turned off at least 5-10 minutes before turning off batteries, to allow the diesel heater time to cool down

  • ALL DC circuits off

Helm controls and data

  • Replace instrument covers

  • Engine hours (Volvo panel)

  • Fuel gallons remaining (Garmin estimate)

  • Complete physical logbook entry (time, location, engine hours)

  • Turn off chartplotter

  • Turn off autopilot

  • Turn off VHF

Prep Cabin

  • Place larger cabin fan heater below table; plug in and turn on (setting 3, thermostat to middle)

  • Plug in fanless electrical heater in head; prop head door open with curtain

  • Stow any other items taken out during cruise

  • Take out trash if full or any items that will spoil/smell

  • Empty fridge of perishables

  • Turn off stereo and replace stereo cover

  • Water tank level

  • Consider refilling for the next operator

Secure Flybridge

  • Instrument covers

  • Canvas

Exterior / Cockpit

  • Washdown (if salty) -- CLOSE HATCHES FIRST

  • Empty cockpit fridge of perishables

  • Stow cockpit seating and bow seating

  • Canvas covers: back bench, two side benches, table, cockpit throttle control

Hatches and Windows

  • Hatch in head opened to "vent" (this will still be locked, but cracked open)

  • All other hatches closed

  • Windows closed

Final Check

  • Cabin heater running

  • Lock cabin

  • Turn off all batteries: engine, house, bow thruster, stern thruster

  • Confirm battery parallel switch OFF

  • Close and latch cockpit door

  • Final inspection of docklines and fenders
