  • Emergency Preparedness (exits clear of obstructions / extinguishers -current inspection, obstructed / eye wash stations- current inspection, obstructed / First Aid- accessible, no contents past their expiration date)

  • Housekeeping ( work benches clear of debris and trash, tools stored properly, walkways/intersections/stairs kept clear)

  • Use of PPE (proper gloves for the task, appropriate foot protection, safety glasses and approved prescription safety glasses with side shields, goggles when grinding)

  • Use of tools and equipment (correct tool for the job, inspection checklist, equipment clean, noticeable damage, all guards and safety features in place)

  • Material Handling (load capacities indicated for cranes/hoists/forklifts, sufficient illumination, wood pallets, slings /shackles/ropes in good condition)

  • Pressure testing operation(use air pressure / hydraulic system)

  • Welding Operations (permit valid, adequate barriers, electrodes and lead cables in good condition, proper PPE)

  • Grinding Operations (adequate barriers, machine guards, adequate hand protection, face shield and goggles)

Health Issues / Compliance

  • Ergonomics (awkward work positions, workspace positioning, repetitive stress)

  • Work Environment (food and drinks eaten in areas away from potential health hazards or toxic materials)

  • Heat Stress (controls in place to minimize heat illness, hydration stations available and proper working conditions)

Environmental Issues / Compliance

  • Waste disposal (properly segregated, in proper containers, emptied regularly)

  • Chemical Safety (SDS available, all containers properly labelled, unused substances properly disposed of, containers are in good condition, properly secured, and not leaking)

  • Outside storage (secondary containment,properly secured,and not leaking)

  • Ground / Soil (evidence of spill or contamination, storm drains free from obstruction, spill kits accessible )
