1.1 Is there any pool fencing around the pool (other than boundary fencing)

1.2 Is the pool fencing at least 1200mm from ground level on the approach side in all areas?

1.3 Is the spacing between vertical uprights less than 100mm?

1.4 Is there less than 100mm ground clearance under the pool fencing?

1.5 Is the ground underneath the pool fence stable?

1.6 For tubular and timber barriers is the lowest climbable member at least 1100mm below the top of the barrier?

1.7 For fences with rails on the inside (where rails are less than 900mm apart and 1.1 metres from the top of the lowest horizontal member) are the vertical members less than 10mm in width ?

1.8 For perforated fences with apertures greater than 13mm but less than 100mm is the fence at least least 2400mm high and strained at both top and bottom OR 1800mm vertical height with 450mm cranked to 135 degrees to the outside?

1.9 Do all fences and posts satisfy tests for strength and<br>rigidity. Fence posts and palings must have sufficient<br>strength and rigidity and be able to sustain reasonable force<br>as expected from an adult? **Test does not apply for Glass<br>Barriers**

1.10 Are glass fences sturdy and of sufficient strength and fit for purpose which is compliant with AS1288?

1.11 Is there a 1200mm non climbable zone from the outside of all pool fencing? (not applicable to perforated material)

1.12 Where gaps in the fence are greater than 10mm is there a 300mm non climbable zone on the inside of the fence? (not applicable to perforated material)

1.13 Are any projections/indentations on the outside of the fence (horizontal) greater/deeper than 10mm (if so are they spaced more than 900mm apart?)

2.1 Do all gates in the pool fencing open away from the pool<br>area?

2.2 Are gates fitted with a self closing device that returns gate<br>to the closed position including from a position adjacent to<br>the lock?

2.3 Is self latching device 1500mm above ground level &<br>1400mm above lowest horizontal rail or shielded by a screen<br>with radius greater than 450mm (with any gaps less than 10mm) to prevent opening by a child.(and at least 150mm from the hand hold opening.)?

2.4 Is the gate latching device incapable of being adjusted<br>during operation or locked on an open position or adjusted<br>without the use of tools?

2.5 Do gate hinges protrude less than 10mm within <br>900mm apart (on approach side) or fitted with a 60° cap. (if greater than 10mm lower Hinge should be 1100mm from top of barrier)?

2.6 Is Gate Protected from Climbing by No Climb Zone<br>1200mm outside and 300mm inside?

2.7 Are all gates and posts able to withstand a reasonable<br>force of approximately 330N and still function as normally (Appendix B) NOTE; Gates must have sufficient strength and rigidity and be able to sustain reasonable force as expected from an adult or a child swinging on the gate and still function. NOTE: TEST DOES NOT APPLY TO GLASS BARRIERS

3.2 Is the boundary fence(s) imperforate and at least 1.2 metres in height with a Non climbable zone of 1.2 metres on the approach side OR is the boundary fence at least 2.4 metres in height of the approach side. (NOTE fence can be perforated with apertures less than 100mm)?

3.3 Are the Boundary fence(s) in ridged and in good condition and<br>capable of sustaining a force in any direction without<br>compromise?

3.4 For Fence Junctions is the intersection with the barrier<br>fence non climbable 1200mm horizontally from the pool<br>barrier fence on the outside and 300mm on the inside? NOTE: This may be treated with the use of fillets.

4.1 Windows - If there are any windows that open onto the swimming pool vicinity, where the distance from the lowest opening sill to swimming pool ground level is less than 2400mm, does the following apply: if the window is not greater than 900mm above the floor of the room containing the window, are the windows restricted to 105mm opening or totally covered by solid bars with gaps no greater than 105mm, not deformed and strong/secure which cannot be removed without the use of a tool, or a mesh screen which is rigid and compliant. OR where the window is within 900mm to 1200mm of the floor level of the room, is compliant with the above OR secured with fly screen which can only be removed with the use of a tool. NOTE: THE ABOVE DOES NOT APPLY TO A WINDOW ABOVE 1.2 METRES OF THE FLOOR LEVEL OF THE ROOM.

4.2 Doors - Are any doors that allow direct access to the pool<br>area fitted with a self closing & self latching device that returns to closed position without the use of any force?

4.3 Doors - Are any doors that allow direct access into the<br>pool area fitted with a self latching device greater than 1500mm above<br>floor level on the approach side that prevents the door from<br>being opened without manual release?

4.4 Doors - Are there any footholds on the door or its frame, if so are they less than 10mm wide OR located no more than 100mm above the floor.

5.1 Is the Balcony more than 2400mm measured from ground level within the swimming pool vicinity to the floor of the balcony? If not, is the balustrade compliant with Part 1 (pool safety fence) of this report?

6.1 Does the retaining wall have an effective (non climbable)<br>height of 2400mm (pool high side) or 1200mm (low side) and<br>can be deemed non climbable (no climbable projections). If greater than 2400 on low side may be climbable.

6.2 Is the retaining wall vertical or slope away from (high<br>side) or towards (low side) the pool at less than 15°

7.1 Are the walls of the pool used as a barrier and 1200mm?

7.2 Do the walls of the above ground pool have a 1200mm No<br>Climb Zone?

7.3 Is there a separate compliant barrier (fence and gate)<br>around the ladder or pool access point? see Parts 1 and 2 of<br>this report for assessment.

Is the safety barrier compliant with the applicable barrier standard (AS1926.1-1993)?
