  • Has the atmosphere been tested for toxic gasses? (Carbon monoxide, etc.)

Cranes (Subpart CC - 1926.1400)

  • If performing craning operations, is your operator certified?

  • Are outriggers being used?

  • Is the swing radius of the crane barricaded?

  • Rigging equipment in compliance?

  • 20 foot distance from power lines maintained or lines de-energized?

  • All other trades out of the area when craning operations are being performed? Is the area barricaded?

Electrical Safety (Subpart K - 1926.400)

  • Are GFCI's being used on all temporary power and frequently tested?

  • Are all extension cords in compliance and not exposed to sharp edges and vehicle traffic?

  • Are all temporary lights fully caged to prevent accidental breakage and are they secured properly?

  • Are power panels labeled, have fronts, and remain closed?

Fall Protection (Subpart M - 1926.500)

  • Is there a documented fall protection plan in place for roofing activities and is it being followed?

  • Has the Personal Fall Arrest System been inspected and is it in good condition?

  • Are all employees exposed to fall hazards of 6' or more protected with fall protection?

  • Are employees who are wearing PFAS properly trained in how it works?

  • When guardrails are used for fall protection are they at the right height and capable of withstanding a force of at least 200 lbs.?

  • Are all floor holes 2" or larger covered labeled and secured?

Fire Extinguishers (Subpart F - 1926.150)

  • Are fire extinguishers on site and are they being monthly inspected?

  • Are extinguishers the right size and rating?

Flammable and Compressed Gas Cylinders (Subpart F - 1926.152)

  • Are approved flammable containers labeled as to contents?

  • Are compressed gas cylinders capped and secured in an upright position?

  • Are safety data sheets (SDS) readily available for hazardous chemicals?

Housekeeping (Subpart C - 1926.25)

  • Appearance of job-site neat and orderly?

  • Housekeeping being conducted and aisles free of debris?

  • Ground free from grease and oil?

  • Projecting nails removed or bent over?

Ladders (Subpart X - 1926.1053)

  • Are step ladders in good condition and being used for their designed purpose? Opened up and not leaning against a wall?

  • Ladders being properly used by workers?

  • Are extension ladders in good condition and if used for access, do they extend at least 3' above the landing and are they secured?

Material Handling (Subpart H - 1926.250)

  • Materials stacked, racked, blocked, interlocked? Secured to prevent sliding falling or collapsing?

  • Materials stored proper distance from floor openings?

Motor Vehicles & Equipment (Subpart O - 1926.600)

  • Are all employees exposed to or working adjacent to moving motor vehicles wearing at least a class 2 high visibility garment?

  • Are daily inspections being conducted on ALL motorized equipment and are operators trained and authorized by their employer?

  • ROPS in good condition?

  • If an aerial lift basket is used on a construction forklift, is it the right size (does not exceed more than 10" of the wheel base), secured and fall protection provided?

  • Are seat belts being worn?

  • Is audible alarm working?

PPE (Subpart E - 1926.95)

  • Is PPE being worn and in compliance with Site, Company, and OSHA requirements?

  • Hard hats?

  • Safety glasses?

  • Proper hand protection in place?

  • Proper footwear?

  • Hearing protection used?

  • Respiratory protection used?

  • High visibility clothing being worn?

Scaffolding (Subpart L - 1926.450)

  • Has the scaffold been erected/dismantled by a competent person?

  • Have all of the employees working on the scaffold had user training? Are they aware of the hazards?

  • Scaffold grade lumber used and decking/planks in good condition?

  • Is the scaffold bearing on base plates and mudsills and is it level?

  • Are access ladders in place?

  • Is cross bracing in place according to manufacturers recommendations?

  • Guys, ties, and braces at proper intervals?

  • Are ALL of the open sides and ends of the scaffold barricaded for fall protection?

  • As a best practice, is the scaffold tagged "ready for use" or "not ready for use" ?

  • Is the hazard zone around scaffolding in place?

Stairways (Subpart X - 1926.1050)

  • Are treads and landings acceptable?

  • Temporary lighting in stairways adequate?

  • Housekeeping around stairways acceptable?

  • Is there a handrail or stair rail along each unprotected side or edge?

  • Are stairs with 4 or more risers or rising more than 30" equipped with a handrail or stair rail?

Steel Erection ( Subpart R - 1926.750)

  • Has a site specific steel erection plan been developed and is it being followed?

  • Has a site specific SEQUENCING plan been developed and is it being followed?

  • Are all other trades out of the area and is the area barricaded while performing steel erection?

  • Has a fall protection plan been developed and discussed with the erection crew?

Tools Hand and Power/Machine Guarding (Subpart I - 1926.300)

  • Are all hand tools free from visible defects and in good condition?

  • Are machine guards in place on all rotating/reciprocal tools & equipment?

  • Right tools used for the job?

  • PPE appropriate for the tools used?

Powdered Actuated Tools (Subpart I - 1926.302)

  • Employees trained and have cards in their possession?

  • Proper eye and face protection used?

  • Misfired cartridges properly disposed of?

  • Hearing protection used?

  • High noise signage in working area?

Trenching/Excavating (Subpart P - 1926.650)

  • Is there a competent person on site while performing trenching/excavating?

  • Is there adequate cave-in protection for employees working in trenches/excavations greater than 5' in depth?

  • Is there an access/egress ladder in the trench/excavation (4' or deeper) and is it within 25' of the workers?

  • Banks of excavation sloped or shored correctly?

  • Are the spoil piles back at least 2' from the face of the excavation?

  • Inspections performed?

  • Are all audible alarms in operation on earthmoving equipment and loud enough to hear?

Welding/Cutting (Subpart J - 1926.350)
