Strap Usage

• Remind customer of the safety issues as well as how expensive the cost of steel has gotten.

  

• Look for multiple bands on loads. The cost may seem lower with PET, but it is less expensive to use one band of right-size and right-strength strap than multiple bands of too-weak strap.

  

• See if strap tears by hand. BOSS strapping uses a lock stitch on the ends of its strap to keep the strap from tearing. BOSS Strap also uses the same yarn all through the strap where other woven strap uses filler yarn of poorer quality with a greater stretch. Greater stretch means that as a bundle moves and shifts, the strap can stretch and not keep the load secure. BOSS strap stretch is between 9-11%. Industry standard is 25%. That 14% difference is the difference between getting the load there safely or not.
