Lubrication

  • Cutter drive - oil at or above center of site glass in oil tank above the cutter?

  • Ladder cylinder - Grease Daily - Chevron RPM Heavy Duty LC Grease EP NLG 2 or equal.

  • Swing winches - Grease Daily - Chevron RPM Heavy Duty LC Grease EP NLG 2 or equal.

  • Spud Winches - Grease Daily - Chevron RPM Heavy Duty LC Grease EP NLG 2 or equal.

  • U-Joint - Grease Daily - Chevron RPM Heavy Duty LC Grease EP NLG 2 or equal.

Wear components

  • Cables free of excess wear or damage?

  • Hydraulic hoses/lines - Free of Damage and leaks?

  • Dredge pump - packing gland checked and adjusted/replaced as needed, gasket on clean out box free of damage?

  • Ladder Trunnion Pins - Fastened and wearing properly.

  • Cutter - edges not excessively worn?

  • Service water pump - packing gland checked, adjusted, or replaced as needed, sea chest screen clean and maintained through shift?

  • Suction and discharge piping - not excessively worn, roll as bottom wares?

  • V-Belts - Free of Damage and ware, adjusted if needed?

  • Batteries - water level good, wires in good clean condition, contained in covered box?

  • Lights - Working?

Pre-Start Up Checklist

  • Fuel tanks checked for water and drained of water if needed? (After extended shut down)

  • Port Fuel Tank Level?

  • Starboard Fuel Tank Level?

  • Fuel tank equalizer valves and fuel return line valves open?

  • All valves for keel cooling system open?

  • All valves to hydraulic reservoir tank open?

  • Service water seacock valve open and no leaks at the pump or in the piping?

  • Keel cooler purged of any trapped air after extended shut down?

  • Coolant level good?

  • All guards in place?

  • Pump clean out cover secured and pump drive shaft is clear to rotate freely?

  • All foundation and coupling bolts present and tight?

  • Decks and equipment compartments clean and free of oil?

Safety Equipment

  • Fire extinguisher mounted, gauge in green, annual and monthly inspection current?

  • Life ring mounted with rope bag, 90’ of rope, and light buoy?

  • VHF radio transmits and receives?

  • Navigation lights, fixed and portable? (Double reds, double greens, restricted maneuverability, white lights)

  • Day shapes? (Double ball, double diamond, ball diamond ball)

  • Horn works?

  • Bulge pump working?

Generator

  • Fluids checked and adequate?

  • Runs under load?

Weekly

  • Dredge pump reduction - Greased seals to maintain slight leakage at the seal?

  • Lever room door hinges and latches lubricated?

  • Swing sheaves - pin and sheave not excessively worn?

Every 250 hours

  • Main engine - oil, oil filter, and fuel filters changed?

  • Engine coolant strainers - flush strainers

Monthly Maintenance

  • Checked seals on cutter drive?

Every 1000 Hours

  • Dredge pump reduction pump - changed fluid, filter, and cleaned screen?

  • Hydraulic oil filters changed?

  • Cutter drive - changed oil?

Every 2000 hours

  • Dredge pump - oil drained and flushed?

  • Hydraulic oil changed and suction strainers cleaned or replaced?

  • Cutter reduction gear and tube bearings - changed oil?

  • Winches - disassemble winch reduction, drain, flush, and change the oil. Repack bearings as well.?

Annual

  • Cutter Drive - Changed oil seals?

  • V-Belts - Changed?

  • Engine coolant strainers - remove Y strainer end cover and inspect, clean or replace the strainer?

  • Report any damage to the dredge.

  • List any maintenance or corrective actions performed on the dredge.
