EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

HOUSEKEEPING

  • Are aisles, hallways, and walkways clear of obstructions such as electrical/computer/phone cords, boxes, furniture and debris?

  • Are storage rooms neat and orderly? Are file storage boxes safely stored?

  • Are stairwells kept clear?

  • Are rugs and carpeting maintained to prevent trip hazards?

  • Are filing cabinets secure from toppling forward when one of the high drawers is open?

  • Are file and desk drawers closed when not being accessed?

  • Exterior walkways kept clear of snow and ice? Resources such as sand/salt available?

  • Exterior walkways well lit and free of trip hazards and debris?

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

  • Electrical outlets being used safely (not overloaded, keep this in mind when using portable electric heaters)

  • Cords are in good condition. No worn or exposed wires.

  • Power strips used when additional outlets are necessary.

SECURITY

  • Doors and windows close and lock

  • Is lighting sufficient in all areas including parking lots?

MAINTENANCE

  • HVAC system filters changed regularly

  • Stair steps maintained so they are not slippery?

  • Stairs have sturdy handrails? Properly attached?

  • Office furniture is good condition, not broken, safe for use?
