  • Cell Phones is defined as any handheld electronic device with the ability to receive and or transmit voice, text or data. This is defined as such in the Broken Arrow Employee Handbook.

  • The Company prohibits employees from using cell phones or similar devices to receive or send text messaging, surfing the Internet, receive or respond to e-mail, check for phone messages, or any other purpose related to company employment or personal use while driving company owned vehicles or equipment. This Prohibition also applies to driving any vehicle, personal, or otherwise, while conducting company business.

  • If the employee must respond to a text message, email or other type of data communication, he/she must stop the vehicle in a safe location and remain in that location until the communication is completed.

  • Broken Arrow prohibits the use of a cell phone while operating any type of machinery or heavy equipment including but not limited to Rock Trucks, Loaders, Excavators, Back hoes, skid-steers, or any other equipment used for work purposes.

  • Hands Free devices have show little to none effect on providing a "safer" method to talking on the phone while driving.

  • It is the conversation that creates the danger not that device.

  • Excessive personal calls during the workday, regardless of the phone used, can interfere with employee productivity and be distracting to others.
