About the work

  • Sewer Maintenance Works
Western Water’s contractor, Interflow Pty Ltd, is undertaking essential sewer maintenance works in your area. As part of this work, they will check and repair the sewer on your property.

Why are these works being undertaken?
A Western Water inspection of the sewer main in your neighbourhood found it to be in poor condition. As such, the sewer will be rehabilitated via a method known as ‘re-lining’.
Sewer re-lining is an efficient and economical way to replace pipes. Unlike traditional ‘trench and lay’ construction, re-lining is a trenchless technology, involving the use of a flexible tube that is inserted into the existing sewer pipe. It can extend the life of the sewer line by up to 50 years.
Re-lining is most commonly used to rehabilitate sewers with tree root intrusion and for cracks and holes.

What is involved in sewer re-lining?
To re-line a sewer pipe, manhole access is required. Western Water’s contractor, Interflow Pty Ltd, will access it using either a truck or mini digger. Unless specified, there is no site excavation.
