Check for 'Not to be Moved' boards. A 'Not to be Moved' board may signify that somebody is working on the vehicle

• If any are fitted to the vehicle, do not continue until the reason for the board's presence has been established and permission has been granted to remove it.

• Double chock the vehicle

From Vehicle Exterior - All isolators should be in the 'Off' position

• Check there are no messages on the Duty Site Manager noticeboard or in the daily log IMS F417 (both kept in the Maintenance Shed) which could affect inspection or operation

Turn on the 24V isolator, disconnect the 24V charger and secure lid and the turn on the Powerpack isolators

• Enter the vehicle by inserting the key in any door lock and turn clockwise until the saloon lights come on

From Vehicle Exterior - All isolators should be in the 'Off' position

• Check vehicle interior is clean, damage free and all signage is legible

From Vehicle Exterior - All isolators should be in the 'Off' position

• Check all safety equipment is present, complete and in date comprising:

• CO2 and foam fire extinguishers in each cab - End A

• First Aid kit in each cab - End A

Maintain the chocks in position

• The air conditioning units will start up - Listen out for abnormal noises or vibration - End A

• Make sure all four doors open / close correctly and all indicator lights function - End A

• Make sure saloon lighting operates correctly (according to each end) - End A

• Make sure horn operates correctly - End A

• Check presence of hammer, gloves, goggles in each cab - End A

• Make sure windscreen washer operates correctly - End A

• Make sure windscreen wiper operates correctly - End A

• Make sure visual displays operate correctly - End A

• Test the cab fire alarms by pressing the test button - if a fault light shows, it indicates that the fire system is not working and the vehicle should not be used - End A

• Check the cab and desk lights are working - End A

• Check the green door indicators are working - End A

• Check the emergency door handles are in the closed position - End A

• Check the headlamps and tail lights - End A

Remove wheel chocks and bring up the LV and HV on the Driver Display Screen with vehciles moving slowly (around 3mph)

• Make sure that vehicle moves forward and reverse - End A

• Test the friction brakes individually (method according to the software routine) - End A

• Unlock the derailer and proceed to drive the track slowly, looking for obstacles, faults, vegetation, or any other items which cause concern or could cause concern in the future.
