SECTION 1:- WORKSITE CONDITIONS

Consider the following:-

  • Are all workers fit for duty - i.e. not under the influence of alcohol / drugs or suffering from illness or similar that could affect their ability to perform their duty safely and correctly?

  • Do all workers have the required training / trade qualifications / licences to complete the work?

  • Do the workers have their Construction General Induction card on them and available for inspection?

  • Are you required to complete an induction / site familiarisation / sign in procedure?

  • Are all workers familiar with with the sites "Health and Safety" rules and security arrangements?

  • Are there emergency facilities and an evacuation procedure / route for the site, and do you have access to appropriate emergency equipment (such as first aid kits, fire extinguishers, spill kits etc.)?

  • If the work involves a high risk task (such as Work at Heights, Hot Work) is a work permit required and do you have the correct procedures and equipment to do the work safely?

  • Is all required electrical / mechanical equipment in a safe condition (guards in place, electrical cords in good condition and in tag and test date)?

  • Are the workers inducted into the SWMS?

  • Have the workers a safe means of access / egress to the work area that is free from trip / fall hazards, and is there appropriate lighting in the work area?

  • Have there been steps taken to eliminate or isolate hazards associated with the work and is all equipment / plant secured from possible uncontrolled movement?

  • Are all the workers comfortable with the methods / procedures to be undertaken and have they been given the opportunity to ask questions / raise concerns relating to the work?

  • If "NO" is marked to any item in section 1, what controls or corrective actions are being implemented?

SECTION 2:- PPE

  • Is there applicable PPE available to the workers?

  • Is applicable PPE being worn? These include:

  • Hi-Viz clothing

  • Hard hat c/w sun brim

  • Safety boots / shoes

  • Safety glasses (tinted or clear)

  • Hearing protection (if applicable)

  • Gloves

  • Respirator (if applicable)

  • Fall protection equipment / devices
