Transport Vehicle Inspection

    2. Any defects, issues or failures record by either adding a note or photo
    3. Issues requiring immediate attention - alert Fleet Ops immediately. Alert other drivers of the vehicle.
    4. Issues not affecting driving in short term but require repair/replacement alert and discuss with Fleet Ops
    5. Complete audit
    6. Share completed inspection by exporting as PDF or by `Share report'
    7. Load inspection in VAULT
    8. Follow up on any issues and update Vault as required

Internal Checks:

  • Seat Belts - Check: do they all click and lock into place? Do belts lock when pulled sharply? Do belts retract? No sign of fraying or cracking?

  • If driver’s seat belt faulty alert Fleet Ops immediately. Arrange alternative transport until repaired & alert other drivers.
    If passenger seat belt faulty (and passengers will not be in vehicle or can use another seat) then vehicle is safe to drive provided that Fleet Ops is alerted and seat belt is tagged/labelled as `Do Not Use'.

  • Seats Secure?

  • If driver’s seat faulty alert Fleet Ops immediately. Arrange alternative transport until repaired & alert other drivers.
    If passenger seat faulty (& passengers will not be in vehicle or can use another seat) then vehicle is safe to drive provided that Fleet Ops is alerted and seat is tagged/labelled as `Do not use'.

  • Mirrors functioning?

  • OK to drive if they can still be manually adjusted. Alert Fleet Ops asap.

  • Check windshield clear of chips, cracks & scratches

  • OK to drive. Alert Fleet Ops asap.

  • DO NOT drive vehicle. Alert Fleet Ops immediately. Arrange alternative transport if available.

  • Wiper blades functioning effectively?

  • OK to drive. Alert Fleet Ops asap.

  • DO NOT drive vehicle. Alert Fleet Ops immediately. Arrange alternative transport if available.

  • Hand brake holding?

  • OK to drive. Alert Fleet Ops asap.

  • If hand brake is not holding DO NOT drive vehicle. Alert Fleet Ops immediately. Arrange alternative transport if available.

  • Horn audible?

  • DO NOT drive vehicle. Alert Fleet Ops immediately. Arrange alternative transport if available.

  • Brakes functioning? To test, start vehicle and move forward slightly to engage brakes.

  • DO NOT drive vehicle. Alert Fleet Ops immediately. Arrange alternative transport if available.

  • Reversing Camera: working/image clear?

  • Check camera clean, alert Fleet Ops asap. Ok to drive - use visual check and mirrors.

  • TMP audit forms available (at least 5)?

  • Organise to print more and replace

  • Accident & Fault reporting forms available?

  • Organise to print more and replace asap

External Checks

  • Brake/Tail lights

  • DO NOT drive vehicle. Alert Fleet Ops immediately. Arrange alternative transport if available

  • Headlights high beam / low beam functioning?

  • If headlights not working alert Fleet Operations asap. Vehicle must only be driven during daylight hours until fixed. Avoid driving if weather is such that having headlights on may be required.

  • Turn indicators functioning (front and rear)?

  • If an indicator is not working - DO NOT drive vehicle. Alert Fleet Ops immediately. Arrange alternative transport if available.

  • Hazard lights operational?

  • OK to drive. Alert Fleet Ops asap.

  • Orange flashing beacon operational?

  • Organise with Fleet to be repaired asap. If trip/activity requires use of beacon arrange another vehicle with operational beacon or reschedule trip/activity

  • Road inspection signage is clean and in good working order (fixed in place)?

  • Organise clean/fix asap. Arrange alternative transport until this has been completed as applicable.

  • Tyres- Inflation (Visual check of tyres) If unsure, check with Fleet Ops as they have a tyre guage

  • DO NOT drive vehicle. Alert Fleet Ops immediately. Arrange alternative transport if available

  • Tyres- Tread Condition - use tyre tread depth indicator supplied by Fleet Ops

  • Ok to drive. Advise Fleet Operations via email asap.

  • Do not drive. Advise Fleet Operations immediately. Arrange for another vehicle if available.

  • Window washer fluid level adequate?

  • Refill/Top up before driving

Vehicle Gear Check

  • Is there a spare tyre present?

  • Is spare tyre functional?

  • Ok to drive within the CBD only. Contact Fleet Ops asap to organise replacement.

  • Does this vehicle have a puncture inflation kit instead of a spare tyre?

  • Jack and wheel brace present in vehicle?

  • OK to drive within the CBD only. Organise department to replace asap
