  • Are there proper procedures in place for disposing hazardous materials.

  • Does the contractor have access to any specialist PPE if required to comply with COSHH.

Site Conditions

  • Are housekeeping standards acceptable.

  • Are unavoidable site hazards being adequately managed and kept to an acceptable level.

  • Are trailing leads, (trip hazards) being adequately manage.

  • Is the storing of materials being properly managed.

  • Is the tenants welfare and wellbeing, being considered at all times.

  • Is there safe means of access and egress for both tenant and contractor to and from site at all times.

  • Are walkway and paths kept clear at all times.

  • Is the contractor ensuring consideration for surrounding properties regards, dust noise, storing of waste, whilst work is in progress.

Working at Height

  • Are hop up being used, if so are they adequate.

  • Are ladders being used, if so are the adequate and in good repair.

Scaffolding

  • Is there a scaffold register held on site.

  • Is the scaffold inspected every 7 days.

  • Is the current scaff tag signed and up to date.

  • Is access to the scaffold made secure at the end of shift, to prevent any unauthorised persons gaining access on to the scaffold.

Fire Safety Management

  • Is the storages of materials, (fire hazardous materials) kept to a minimum and removed from site ASAP

  • Does the contractor have immediate access to a fire extinguisher in the event of a fire.

  • Are hot works permits (if any) job specific and signed by both parties, No Hot works Permit No hot works.

  • Are all contractors aware of EMH no smoking policy.

Waste management

  • Is all waste materials properly stored and removed from site at the end of the job.

Lone Working

  • Is the contractor familiar with EMH lone working policy.
