SAFETY Q and A

  • You have a demolition that will require a number of Det Dem Elec to be fired by a single RFU. Do you connect them in Series or Parallel, and why?<br><br>(So if one Det fails, all will fail; or all will be known to function)

  • Who is authorised to carry out repairs to Mini-RABS units?<br><br>(Qualified and trained pers)

  • When a Det is connected to a Charge, is the RFU Test button to be used?

  • What is the minimum length of firing cable to be used for an RFU? <br><br>(15 Meters)

  • If the module test LED remains illuminated (steady red) is the unit to be used?<br><br>(No. Quarantine)

  • What points are to be checked during the Non-Tech Inspection?<br><br>(Cleanliness, Battery compartment, Functionality)

SET UP, FUNCTION TESTING AND OPERATION

FIRE CIRCUIT USING MANUAL FIRE MODE

Preparation Phase

  • Did the Trainee Brief all involved , about task & expected out comes?

  • Did the Trainee Designate safe area

Conduct Phase

  • Did the Trainee run out cable & conduct continuity check using RFU?

  • Did the Trainee switch the RFU on?

  • Did the Trainee Close the circuit - Open the circuit - Close the circuit during ‘Arming’ phase?

  • Did the Trainee switch the RFU off?

  • Did the Trainee ensure bared ends of cable are shunted together?

Detonator

  • Did the trainee safely handle the detonator at all times (earthing drills done)?

  • Did the trainee wear the correct PPE when handling the detonator at all times?

  • Did the trainee correctly and safely inspect the detonator?

  • Did the trainee use the correct procedure for testing Det<br>(Det under sandbag)<br>?
