Electrical Cords

  • Are there cords across walkways, aisles, or through doorways

  • Are electrical cords installed in a way that will protect them from damage

  • Do all extension cords and receptacle multipliers have a ground conductor

  • Are extension cords of the proper length and gauge to handle the current

Employee Interaction

  • Approach an employee and ask them what they would do if they see a cord in a walkway. Record their answer.

Facility Electrical

  • Are electrical panels marked and labeled to keep clear for 36 or 42 inches along with lines on the floor

  • Is access to electrical panels blocked by materials or tools

  • Are there open or exposed electrical boxes or connections

  • Are all disconnecting switches and circuit breakers labeled to indicate their use or equipment served?

Equipment electrical

  • Are all energized parts of equipment guarded against accidental contact by approved cabinets or enclosures?

  • Is equipment labeled with the correct voltage and electrical hazard

  • Are power disconnection means in good shape

Overall Electrical Safety

  • What is the overall condition of the workplace?
