Physically inspect all appropriate items and check for the following:

  • Are exposed wiring and cords with frayed or deteriorated insulation repaired or replaced promptly?

  • Are the temp lights in hood condition?

  • Are extension cords, cables, and power tool cords free of damage?

  • Are portable electrical tools and equipment grounded or double insulated?

  • Do extension cords have a grounding conductor prong?

  • Are Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI's) being used properly

  • Are tools and similar equipment provided with appropriate safety guards?

  • Emergency shut-offs / switches properly marked and working?

  • Have all power tools been inspected for damage?

  • In wet or damp locations, are electrical tools and equipment appropriate for the use or otherwise protected?

  • Are all live panels labeled, locked and contact information posted?

  • Are all live parts covered or protected? Example, outlets, switches, panels.

  • Are workers wearing the proper PPE for the task being performed?

Trenching

  • Are employees engaged in trenching activities?

  • Is the trench over 5ft deep?

  • Are employees entering/working in the trench?

  • If working in the trench, are they properly protected against cave-in?

  • Is adequate access/egress provided?
