Working environment and conditions

  • Is there sufficient lighting for the detail of work required?

  • Is the temperature at a comfortable level?

  • Is the noise level at a comfortable level?

Working Area

  • Is the work area (desk) large enough to hold all equipment and allow you to work comfortably?

  • The areas is free from any trip hazards from cables, cords or any other objects?

  • There are adequate storage facilities for files and documents?

Chair

  • The height of the chair is easily adjustable?

  • The chair has lumber support?

  • The chair is in good condition with no rips or tears?

  • The chair is stable with a five point base and castor wheels?

Seating Position

  • I am able to sit with both feet on the floor, lower legs vertical and thighs horizontal?

  • I sit with a straight back and no slouching?

  • I look straight ahead at the terminal and with no reduction of the head and neck for long periods of time?

  • I have regular breaks way from the seated position by standing and/or stretching?

Computer Screen & Keyboard

  • The computer screen is set at a height where the middle of the screen is at eye level?

  • The screen monitor is at least 600mm away?

  • The keyboard is in a position that allows my forearms and wrists to be in a straight position?

  • Any mouse available is close to the keyboard and any mouse pad available has wrist support?

  • Any document holder available is situated close to the computer terminal and requires minimal head/neck movement?
