  • Inspection of LPG Installations shall be performed prior to the commencement of the event. The purpose of the inspection is to ensure as far as is practicable that the use of LPG equipment is in accordance with the Code of Practice and that the safety of the public staff and other attendees is maintained. All questions should be answered as accurately as possible

  • The following items must be checked for compliance:-
    - all LPG storage containers/vessels.
    - all associated LPG equipment.
    - food preparation/cooking equipment which produces heat regardless of fuel type. ie. deep fat fryers etc.
    - fire/safety equipment provision and condition.
    - Permits and statutory requirements.

LPG CYLINDER CHECKLIST

  • Are cylinders provided in Good condition, free from damage including rust and less than 10 years old?

  • Describe the equipment. Photos may also be used.

  • Are spare, full or empty cylinders stored outside?

  • Are any cylinders blocking an exit way?

  • Are cylinders stored on a flat, level and on a non combustible surface?

  • Are cylinders stored in an upright position and effectively secured to prevent falling over ? Describe method used.

  • Are cylinder stored in a well ventilated area?

  • Is the storage area clear of ignition sources?

  • Are all cylinder valves in working order and free from gas leaks? PRV's directed to minimise risk to occupants ?

  • Are all rubber seals in working order and not leaking?

  • Are all regulators in working order?

Gas appliance checklist

  • Are all appliances approved and labeled by a recognized certifying body or the appliance manufacturer?

  • Have the appliances been checked in the last 2 years by a qualified person?

  • Have any of the safety devices on the appliances been tampered with?

  • Do all thermostats and ignition sources, if fitted, work?

  • Are all gas supply pipes and hoses in good condition?

  • Are all rubber seals in working order and not leaking?

  • Are all gas appliances in a safe working condition?

  • Have the connection joints been tested with soapy water?

  • Are combustible materials clear of the appliances and gas cylinders when stored or in use?

Safety procedure checklist

  • Do your staff members know what to do in an emergency?

  • Are there written emergency procedures for your operation ?

  • Are suitable and ready to use fire extinguisher/s and/or fire blanket/s available close by?

  • If it appears that you have an unsafe gas installation, assistance must be sought from a licensed gas fitter. The Office of Electrical and Gas Safety provides assistance and information regarding LPGas Safety and the event organisers have a strong commitment to LPG safety. The Regulator and/or the statutory Fire Authority may carry out additional on-site gas safety inspections without notice and reserves the right to require immediate correction of any unsafe condition. Serious penalties may apply for breaches/ infringements.
