Pre-Loading

  • Identify picked and staged pallets to be loaded

  • Match manifest to product and detach dock receipts

  • Consolidate pallets with same dock receipt number

  • Pre-configure hazardous material loads

  • Segregate incompatible hazardous material

  • Re-weigh pallets that have been reconfigured or consolidated

  • Validate weight restrictions

  • Make changes, if needed, to the manifest as needed and communicate to the Freight Operations department

Container Arrival

  • Enter date and time of container arrival

  • Choose container size.

  • Is the container being picked up for HAZ or NON-HAZ?

  • Take a picture of the inside of the empty container

Container Inspection

  • Perform a walk-around to verify walls, support rails, and lifting corner posts are in good working order

  • Chock wheels

  • Inspect the inside of the trailer to make sure they are free from insects

  • Inspect the floors, walls, and ceiling to make sure they are in good condition

Loading

  • Take a picture at 25% of the loaded container.

  • Take a picture at 50% of the loaded container.

  • Take a picture at 75% of the loaded container.

  • Take a picture at 90% of the loaded container.

  • Is the cargo loaded by an experienced forklift operator?

  • Enter the full name of the forklift operator

  • Is lighter product top loaded?

  • Is hazardous material loaded on the bottom levels?

  • Is product loaded and secured properly with no gaps or open spaces between product?

  • Is the weight evenly distributed throughout the container?

  • Build a brace or apply Tygard wrap to secure the last pallets loaded

  • Take picture of the last pallets loaded

  • Build a container door brace or apply Tygard wrap to secure the load

  • Take pictures of the container door brace

Post-Loading

  • Perform final inspection and verification of loaded contents

  • Verify manifest and make changes as necessary

  • Identify if container needs be labeled with any hazardous material placards

  • Take pictures of placarded container (even if placards are not required)

  • Close the container and apply the issued seal

  • Take a picture of the seal bolted/placed onto the container once loaded

  • Take a close up picture of the seal number

Administrative Tasks
