G. Signage

  • Are escape route signs clearly visible and legible?

  • Do signs indicate the nearest escape route from all work places?

  • Are internal fire doors labeled?

  • Are exit doors labeled with illuminated signage?

  • Are exit signs visible and not obstructed?

H. Emergency Lighting

  • Are all emergency light indicators illuminated (if present)?

  • Are all covers, diffusers, etc. present and fitted?

  • Do emergency lights illuminate for a minimum of 10 minutes when the electricity supply is disconnected?

  • Are overhead bulbs in open food areas covered to prevent broken glass from getting into food products?

I. Fire Alarms

  • Is the fire alarm sounded weekly?

  • Are all call points clearly visible and un-obstructed?

  • Are signs present over each call point?

J. AED

  • Is the green check showing that the unit is ready to use?

  • Is the unit clean, undamaged, and free of excessive wear?

  • Are there any cracks or loose parts in the housing?

  • When you turn the unit off and on does the green check indicate ready for use?

  • Are the batteries expired?

  • Check for adequate supplies (mask, gloves, extra pads or batteries).

  • Alarm on the AED box operates correctly?

K. Eye Wash/First Aid

  • First aid plan is displayed on the notice boards?

  • Appropriate first aid kits are available and easily accessible with signs clearly visible?<br>

L. Electrical

  • Do all electrical panels have at least 36" clearance in front of them?

  • Is there sufficient lighting to work and move safely?

  • Are lock outs used when the system is de-energized?

M. Ladders

  • Are portable ladders in good working condition?

  • Do rolling portable ladders have handrails?

N. Powered Industrial Trucks

  • Are safety lights, horns, seatbelts and strobes operational?
