HOUSEKEEPING

  • Go through each question and where issues are observed, take photos, create an 'ACTION' using the 'ACTION' button and allocate the action to the appropriate person, either by entering their email or selecting their name from iAuditor users.

  • Is the floor area clean and clear of dust, rubbish and unstored materials?

  • Are materials, cords and general items placed/stored in a way that creates a trip hazard?

  • Are flooring surfaces clear of spills and damaged areas that may cause slip, trip or fall hazards?

  • Are machine areas clean and clear of dust, rubbish and unstored materials?

  • Are tools and assistive aids being stored in the correct locations ready for next use?

  • Do areas where fall risks are present (such as stairs, loading bays) have the appropriate guard or rail systems, and the guards are in place when the area is not in use?

  • External grounds and visitor access points are clean and presentable and clear of hazards?

Manual Handling

  • Are staff demonstrating correct techniques for manual handling tasks (bending at the knees, not through their backs etc)?

  • Are machines and assistive devices being used to limit manual handling activities where possible?

  • Is the storage of items such as copy paper, pallets etc. appropriate to limit manual handling actions (e.g. heavy items are at not stored above waist height)?

Materials Handling

  • Is mandatory PPE be used when handling any materials?

  • Are all materials in the warehouse and racking securely fastened to their pallets and chocked?

  • Is material handling equipment in good working order (forklift, trolleys)

  • Are forklifts being driven responsibly and safely - use of horns, lights, correct interaction with pedestrians, slow speed?

  • Are chemicals in use in work areas clearly identified and stored correctly based on their identified hazards?

  • Are machines guards secured and in place to prevent person interaction with moving parts?

General

  • Staff noticeboards are being maintained with current updates and information

  • Safety signage and exit lights are in working order and clearly visible and legible?

  • Infection control PPE and signage is in place and being used correctly (masks, hand sanitiser, cleaning of common areas)

  • Is there any evidence to suggest conflict or disharmony amongst staff or in work areas?

Discussion with a Staff Member

  • Select a staff member working in an area you are assessing. Discuss with them their role and the processes involved in their role. Use this as an opportunity to both demonstrate a genuine interest in the tasks that keep our business running and a willingness to listen to ideas and issues. Use these questions as guides or prompts for your discussion.
