Are there any trip hazards on site?

Are there any spillages creating slip hazards?

Is there any ice/snow present on pedestrian walkways or roads?

Are all high edges suitably protected to stop people or items falling?

Is there a suitable number of H&S signs and are they in good condition, legible, secured?

Is the lighting levels suitable in all areas?

Is the temperature in all areas suitable or controlled?

Is there any low level lighting at risk of being struck?

Are all items suitably stacked or stored in a safe fashion?

Are all windows at risk of being walked into suitably demarked?

Are the toilets in an acceptable condition? (Cleanliness, ventilation, cleaning/drying materials)

Is there a suitable skin care board in relevant areas? (Workshop & Bodyshops)

Is the hygiene in the canteens/eating areas suitable?

Is the workplace generally tidy? (To ensure good evacuation, reduce fire risk and prevent slips &trips)

Is there any other issues regarding Workplace Conditions?

Are all pieces of Lifting Equipment suitably marked with a Safe Working Load (SWL)?

Are all vehicle lifts fitted with suitable, working safety features? (Toe guards, Locking Arms etc)

Are engine cranes in good order, fitted with safety hooks and marked with incremental SWL's?

Are any makeshift pins in use on axle stands? (Screw drivers, bolts etc)

Are bench grinders fitted with eye guards and properly adjusted work rests on each wheel?

Are hydraulic presses securely fitted to the ground and marked with a SWL?

Are grinders and presses signed with suitable PPE signage?

Are rolling roads covered when not in use?

Is all racking suitably secured to avoid toppling and free from damage/loading that may cause collapse?

Are all roller shutters/up and over doors in good order and have they been serviced?

Do oil tanks show signs of leaking?

Are hand tools in good condition and fit for purpose?

Are ladders/steps of a suitable category, fit for purpose and free from damage? (EN131 or Class 1)

Are ladders/steps locked or kept in a secure area to avoid unauthorised use?

Are Fork Lift Truck's (FLT) fitted with suitable safety devices and do they have keys removed when not in use?

Are key cutters fitted with eye guards and signed with PPE signage? (Eye protection)

Are mixing room doors fitted with returners and closed? (No wedging open)

Are filters on ovens regularly changed and recorded?

Are all welding/heating plant regularly inspected by a competent person?

Are vehicle display ramps in good order, marked with a SWL and secured when in use?

Are any pits demarked and fitted with suitable safety devices?

Is all required PPE/RPE necessary for substances in use?

Where provided is LEV working?

Have clearance times been carried out and displayed?

Are sub-contracted companies using substances properly?

Are there adequate Manual Handling Aids available to minimise handling?

Are the available Handling Aids used and in good condition?

Are loads stored in a manner that reduce the injuries from Manual Handling?

Are DSE workstations suitable for habitual use or by those with specific needs?

Are all computer chairs at computer workstations proper DSE chairs?

Are wiring solutions adequate for safety reasons? (Trip, interconnection)

Is there any other issues regarding DSE?

Has PAT testing been carried out in each area in line with testing schedules?

Is there any signs of broken/damaged or exposed sockets?

Is there any signs of exposed insulation on wire joints? (especially on Double Insulation equipment)

Is there any breaches in wire insulation? (Look for signs of exposed wires/insulation or use of tape)

Are there any missing conduit covers or joint panels?

Is there any signs of the interconnection of multiple plug extensions/adapters?

Is there any signs of overloading of plug extensions/adapters?

Are there any extension reels in use that are unwound and not fitted with Thermal Cut Out switches?

Are all High Pressure washers fitted with a local RCD? (30mA)

Are all areas of the building where wet conditions and portable electrical equip covered by local RCD?

Are RCDs tested by the user on a daily basis?

Are all panels, junction boxes and cupboards secure?

Is there suitable warning signage on electrical panels, junction boxes, cupboards etc?

Is there any other issues with Electricity?

Are gas pipes clearly indicated by signage and/or colour?

Are gas pipes at risk of being struck by any vehicles, equipment or loads suitably protected?

Are all gas safety cut offs suitably signed and tested where possible?

Are all gas meter housings and cupboards secure, free from sources of ignition and ventilated?

Is there any other issues with Gas?

Does the branch have a suitable number of trained First Aiders?

Does the branch have a suitable number of First Aid Boxes, Eye Wash Stations/capsules and Burn Kits in desired locations?

Are the boxes suitably full?

Have the boxes, eye wash stations and burn kits been checked for content and expiry dates? Has these checks been recorded?
