2.5 Engine Runs

Has the engineer in overall control carried out a briefing to ensure the following:
- All parties involved are aware of their role and the roles of their colleagues?
- There is a minimum of a second competent person on the flight deck and that person has been fully briefed on the emergency evacuation procedure?
- All parties onboard are aware of which exits are to be used in the event of an emergency and whether these exits will require the use of slides or steps?
- All parties, both on and off the aircraft, are aware of the emergency evacuation procedures and the sound of the evacuation alarm?
- All parties are aware of the nominated emergency evacuation assembly point, as designated by the engineer in overall control?
- Engineers outside the aircraft are aware of the hazards of wearing hats, spectacles, loose clothing, unsecured headsets and ear protectors?
- Staff wearing hooded clothing of any type have been instructed to take particular care during engine running?
- Ground crews are aware of the hazards around the front and rear of running engines and they are aware of the correct access/exit routes?
- The ground headset person is aware of the actions that will be taken in the event of emergency?
- Staff who have not previously been involved in an aircraft ground run are aware of the noise levels and vibration to expect?
- Additionally, they have been informed that once onboard, they will not be able to leave until the run has finished?
- The relevant airport authority ops centre has been made aware that ground runs are in progress?

- Are lookouts aware of their responsibilities?

Did the person in overall control ensure all other staff working on the aircraft were warned of impending operations by use of a klaxon warning (3x 5 second blasts)?

On completion, does the person in overall control ensure all systems are safe and communicate this to all colleagues in the hangar using a klaxon (1x 10 second blast)?
