1.0 - External/ Access

  • Is there an appropriate Site Fire Management and Emergency layout plan displayed along with written instructions?

  • Are first aider details displayed in the H&S area?

3.0 - Documentation

  • Are all necessary statutory registers/inspection records available for all equipment and plant on site including all subcontractors equipment and plant?

  • Is the traffic management/pedestrian safety plan on display?

  • Are there relevant, suitable and sufficient RAMS for all works, including all updates and revision where required?

  • Where applicable, have all COSHH risk assessments been completed on site for all substances currently in use and all operatives briefed on the relevant safety measures/ procedures?

  • Have any notices been served as a result of a visit by the HSE or Local Authority?

4.0 - The Work Area

  • Are all work areas adequately lit?

  • Are all working areas in the showroom tidy?

  • Are all personnel working safely?

  • Are ladders, mobile platforms and access towers being used on site?

  • Are ladders regularly maintained and are safe to use?

  • Do any trip hazards exist in the work place?

5.0 - Fire

  • Are all designated fire exit routes (internally and externally) unlocked, clear from obstructions and appropriately signposted?

  • Are there adequate fire extinguishers on site and are they suitably positioned and inspected within the previous 12 months?

  • Is there a suitable method for raising the alarm in the event of a fire or other emergency?

  • Are alarm systems (mobile or otherwise) tested and records kept?

6.0 - Electricals

  • Are all electrical distribution board cover(s) closed and secure?

7.0 - Welfare

  • Have RCD checks been completed?

  • Is there hot and cold running water available?

  • Is there drinking water available?

  • Are food storage and preparation appliances available?

  • Is there means of heating the welfare area?

  • Are adequate toilet and hand washing facilities provided? (see notes for details on what is expected depending on staff numbers etc)

  • Is there a suitable designated smoking area?

  • Is smoking only taking place in the sites designated smoking area?
