1. EXPLAIN HEALTH AND SAFETY LAWS IN QUEENSLAND

  • Employer has a legal obligation for employees and visitors

2. HOW TO REPORT AN INCIDENT, INJURY OR HAZARD

4. HOW TO LIFT, CARRY AND PUT THINGS DOWN SAFELY

  • Show how to size up an object before trying to lift it

  • Show how to lift properly (knees bent, back straight)

  • Explain the risk of improper lifting

  • Get worker to demonstrate correct lifting procedure

  • Show employee how to operate appropriate materials handling equipment

5. HOW TO DEAL WITH HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES

  • Show worker where hazardous substances are stored

  • Show worker where the MSDS register is kept
