  • Is the work area clean and organized with walkways free of obstruction?

  • Are grates or similar floor covers secured and designed so foot traffic or rolling equipment will not be affected?

  • Is material on elevated surfaces piled/stacked in a manner to prevent tipping, falling, or collapsing?

  • Is there at least 18 inches of clear space between stored materials and sprinkler heads?

Observations of Employees

  • Employees are using proper lifting and carrying techniques

  • Ladders/Step-ladders are used for high-reach items

  • Employees have a “Clean as you go” mentality

  • Non-slip shoes are worn by all employees

  • Knives are handled and used appropriately

  • Equipment is being cleaned properly

  • Equipment with age-restrictions are handled by someone of appropriate age

  • Box cutter is used properly

  • Spills are cleaned up immediately; wet floor signs are used appropriately

MIC/PIC Knowledge Check
